DeSean Jackson Says The Media Is Twisting His Words

There’s been a great deal of criticism focused on DeSean Jackson and the effort he put forth last year.  On Monday night he was interviewed during the game by Lisa Salters of ESPN.  She had also interviewed him earlier in the week and asked him whether he was able to give his best effort a year ago during his contract problems.

“I let it get to me, even though I tried not to let it. I was trying to protect myself from getting hurt — now I’m just giving it all.”

Jackson didn’t like the fact that many are portraying his statement as him admitting that he didn’t give his best effort a year ago.  He tweeted the following statement on Tuesday afternoon.

“The Media love twisting my damn words up .. An they always wondering why I don’t wanna talk 2 they ass .. That sh-t is un – professional”

I can see where you can take it that way from what he said.  I think a number of people started saying that Jackson admitted that he didn’t give 100% a year ago and he really didn’t say that.  You can’t quote him saying that, but you can read that into what he said.

At the same time, you could read into what he said that he was simply admitting he didn’t play his best football, not that he didn’t give his best effort.

There’s not a player who has played the game who hasn’t been distracted at some point during a game.  We all know that Jackson was distracted by the fact that he could lose the game with nothing to show for his achievements if he got hurt a year ago.

Jackson should stop answering questions about last year.  It’s time to move on.  He should be focused on 2012, not 2011.

A non-story and non-issue G-Man, until blogs keep bringing it up then it will continue to have legs.. Who cares about what a gal reporter from ESPN asks D-Jax or any other player.. They are on TV.. they are going to ask stupid questions..I think D-Jax handled himself well

If he played not to get hurt, & played to protect himself, that is the definition, OF NOT TRYING/ PLAYING hard enough. STFU DJax, they were your words, no one elses. I love these athletes, that always get diarrhea of the mouth, then always backpeddle, & say it was taken out of context. Stay off of social media, don’t talk to the reporters, & JUST STFU!!!!!!!!
