Eagles Bench Brian Rolle And Promote Akeem Jordan

The Eagles have promoted outside linebacker Akeem Jordan to the starting weakside linebacker job over Brian Rolle.  They had to do something at this position because Rolle has been struggling throughout the preseason.

Jamar Chaney would have been the guy taking over but he’s been battling a hamstring injury.  Andy Reid said there’s still a chance Chaney could win the job.

I guess there was a reason Rolle was so anxious to attack the line of scrimmage on the first series against Cleveland that he jumped offsides twice.  He knew his starting job was in jeopardy.

It didn’t help things when he blew a coverage and turned one of the Browns tight ends loose going across the field for a long gain on the first series.  The Eagles coaches left him in the game after they had taken out the other starting linebackers, but he wasn’t able to gain the confidence of the coaching staff.

WOW, wasn’t Jordan the starting WLB 5 yrs ago ( 2008 NFC Champ gm ?? )
if thats the case I would like to see jordan & kendricks switched. put kendricks at the will ( Kendricks is the better playmaker )

now i like that one. Well observed i just wish the coaches see what we see or give us some of the money they make..lol Jordan is a little bigger to to stick the big tight ends ans that will leave Kendricks to roam free like a Lion looking to devour..lol Gcobb pass on the info.

And what exactly have you seen this training camp that indicates it “should be” Chaney? You can’t evaluate players based on what you remember them doing in the past, or if you like them for one reason or another. It must be what they’ve shown you right now. The Eagles had to do something about Rolle’s poor play this preseason. So they chose Jordan. Chaney is still in the mix, but he has to do something warrant the opportunity. And yes, regarding what I said above, I do remember them “handing” the MLB position to Casey Matthews last year which I thought was a huge mistake. But this move I am fine with for now. As for Rolle, he is a physically limited player who made too many mistakes this preseason for that kind of player. There is room in the NFL for physically limited players. But one thing they cannot do is constantly make mistakes especially mental mistakes. One last thing on Brian Rolle – is it me or does he look like Cee-Lo Green in shoulder pads to anyone else?

jordans ok .. but chaney likes to run around and led the team in tackles .. on the weak side he can roam freely and use his 4.48 speed..

Jodan is a freaking BUM! I can’t believe he is still on this roster! He must have blackmail pictures of Reid?!? Our LB’s are in trouble again, if Ryans doesn’t pan out. Kendricks can’t cover the entire field, damn it!

Good Deal, Rolle has played terrible ths Summer Camp and Preseason and really seems lost out there and is in jeopardy of not making the 53 Man Roster in my opinion.. I’ve been watching some many pre-Season games and see some team loaded loaded with LB Talent that will be hitting teh Waiver wire..
Teams like the CArdinals,Panther s,Bears,Giants,Pats,Saints,Seahaesa,49ers will be releasing some players who could possible even Start or be better quality back-ups for the Eagles.. Both Rolle,Matthews and Clayton have all taken steps back as far as LB play is concerned and the Eagles LB Depth is very, very thin right now as it Safety behind Allen/Coleman.. Both of these Positions will be addressed this week when cutdowns around the NFL Start..

Iadmit I only saw the New England game on TV (listened to others via internet) but against NEw England Jordan made a number of nice athletic plays..

I agree with Paulman that we could very well se an addition of ‘surprise’ cut at Safety and/or LB –

Anyone else read the article where Patterson may not play this season? that brain surgery is some scary stuff

Remember that Chaney had neck surgery in January and probably came back to OTA’s a bit premature and ahead of schedule (Chaney was probably fearful with the new LB’s on the squad)
I mentioned that LB’s Rolle,Matthews,Chaney & Clayton all have had unproductive SUmmer CAmps and have taken a step back in their Development…
Who knows players like Ryan Rau or Monte Simmons may surge ahead of these players.. These guys have been in camp all season and are at least helathy and giving it a shot..

Brian Rolle is better than Matthews, so if he was benched then why in the hell is Matthews still on the team.

That damn bum was atrocious all last preseason was worse during the season. We knew what the late “JJ’s” role was when he was D Coordinator but someone need to tell us what exactly is Juan’s role.

Who is making the defensive decisions on the defensive side of the ball?

Patterson is suffering from a known neurological side effect through vaccines which creates abnormal brain swelling. It’s the vaccines!!!!!!

Patterson will never play football again as reported by Paulman back in January
Coach AR and Eagles placing him on PUP and then will be moved to IR so he can collect his full Salary for 2012 and then will reach a medical settlement after the Season as a move of good will to help Patterson collect as much $$$ from his contract before Officially retiring next Off-Season… This is how Coach AR takes cares of players that he really likes.. (they did the same thing for Abriamri last year as well as opposed to just cutting the chord like some Teams do.. this is another reason players like Coach AR)
