Nnamdi Asomugha Signs With San Francisco

NmandiAsomugha4Several weeks after being released by the Philadelphia Eagles, cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha has agreed to terms with the San Francisco 49ers on a one-year contract.

The deal is worth $3 million, but none of the money is guaranteed, making it a low-risk move for the 49ers, who can cut the former Pro Bowler without owing him a dime if he is unable to regain his top form.

What’s odd is that Asomugha actually requested that none of his money be guaranteed. Although he’ll already receive more than $4 million from the Eagles this season, its hard to imagine why he (or anyone for that matter) would turn down a couple extra million.

Good for Asmo, who was the biggest bust of Eagles Free-Agents
signings, maybe a fresh start on an already good Team will be good for him, but he was an Eagle or played like he wanted to be an Eagle in my opinion
I doubt that he Start’s and will be a nickel back and probably cover TE’s exclusively and may end up playing a little Safety for the 49ers
Who lost Safety Gildston in Free-Agency
I see him as a situational DB based on who the 49ers are playing

Good, that guarantees the Niners, won’t be back in the SB, next year! How that Cancer, got another job, is beyond me?!? What a joke!

Ya he will probably be an all pro again playing for the 49ers. What a douche bag

Maybe the Niners can have their offensive line coach, coach him up.

I wonder what Howie offered him to stay? At least Nnamdi freed himself of Nate Allen help.

Breakdown of our secondary last year…

1. DRC- all the talent in the world and yet born without heart. He needs a coach that will ride him. I hear Mike Rice is free… Denver should look into it.

2. NNamdi- not sure if its that he lost heart or ability or both. Bottom line…. the eagles stripped him of worrying about Allen, Coleman, or any other S by leaving him man to man with WR’s, and guess what…. he failed. What happened to Nnamdi will go down as one of the NFL riddles we will never understand.

3. Boykins– little man with a great drive. He isnt the size we need but he plays with heart.

4. Allen- so much promise his rookie year and yet he has done nothing since.his injury. He gets lost and does not have the speed or hips to make up for it. Struggles in space, cant make a tackle and is not really good at much of anything.

5. Coleman- Is this guy even on the team still?Nothing about him stands out.

6. Colt- great special teams player and plays with passion… he’s a guy you want on the field but… his size just wont cut it.

the problem with the 2ndary of the last few years is a combination of getting old, not living up to potential and just not being very good to begin with. The puzzling thing about this one is….. we’ve payed and payed and payed and still nothing. Think about it…. with the LB spot under andy you knew you werent getting much cause they didnt draft em or pay any. But with the secondary…. how many 2nd round picks and high profile players did we bring in on this one? yet… bumpkis.

Anyone have the injury reports for Cornerbacks and wide receivers coming off knee injures eligible for the draft this year, so we can get an idea who Howie is looking at in April.

Having 5 SDecondary Coaches in the last 6-7 Years didn’t help either
from Sean McDermott to Dick Jauron, to the passive Johnny Lynn to Todd Bowles who was asked to do double duty as Secondary Coach and the DC after Castillo was fired..
A lot of it is Talent no doubt, but there has been a carosel of Coaches with different Backgrounds & Philosophies for this Secondary ever since McDermott became the DC for JJ.. Not making any excuses but pointing that a lack of stability has made the mediocre Talent even worse..
Hopefully with a new Coaching Staff, they can get some consistency on what coverages to play and continue to add conmpetition and talent to the group and so far they are off to a good start

agreed… but there is no explanation for Nnamdi getting owned 1 on 1 with everyone.

you could also interpret it as Banner, Heckertt, Mueller, Savage, Donahue, Roseman selecting mismatched or horrible pieces
