NFL Mock Draft For April 14, 2013

EricFisher8The top two offensive tackles in this draft, Texas A&M’s Luke Joeckel and Central Michigan’s Eric Fisher, have seen their names high on the draft boards throughout the process.  It will not be a surprise to anyone if the Eagles come down with one of them.   There’s also a chance that the Jaguars find it impossible to potentially draft a franchise quarterback.  Sharrif Floyd is a good bet to be draft amongst the first ten.

G-Man,
You have OLB Alec Ogletree going #20 to the Bears and then at #25 to the Vikings.. (Did you mean LB Jarvis Jones as one of these Selections since I don’t see him in your 1st Rd Mock)

Jaguars with new HC in Gus Bradley will go after a Pass-Rusher/DE
either Dion Jordan or Ansah to establish his Identity with his New Team
I see no way do that they spend a #2nd Round Pick on QB Geno Smith
They need about 7-8 Players on Defense from DE,OLB,CB & Safeties
Gus Bradley will build the Jags with his Defense first..

Austin???? Laughable! Come on Dixie, we already have 300 WR’s on the roster, & you’re going to waste, arguably the most important 1st round draft pick, that we’ve had in a decade, on a WR, AFTER trading down? Dude use your noggin! Only way that happens, if we trade both DJax & Maclin, for additional qst & 2nd rounders. That’s highly unlikely. You have a better chance, of getting hity lightning twice, while holding a winning powerball ticket, than that happening. LOL!!!!

I agree 100%.. Jet’s will not be interested in MAtt Barkly who I think falls to the late 1st Round .. His arm strength is not very strong and if your going to play in the Upper Midwest/Northeast in late fall for an outdoor Team (Jets,BIlls,Steelers,Browns,Eagles,Ravens,Pats,Bears,Packers) you will need to have a very strong arm to pass thru the elements (high winds) and Barkely does not possess this..

Bugs, they’ve gotten fooled twice, Dirty Sanchez & Teblow! Why not make it a 3-some? The way they’ve handled the Revis situation alone, shows their incompetence.

DCar that is way too high for Ryan Nassib, and Barkley, who are both 3rd Round talents. But I think your counting on the run on QB’s in the first Round, am I right? If anything the Eagles wouldl trade down if they think that Dion Jordan is going to drop.

But, I think they will draft Eric Fisher, or trade down and draft Both Ansah, and Star Lotululei. Star could go as early as 4, or as late as 15.

3rd round talents???? What draft boards & prospects have you been watching? Both the Jets & Bills need QB’s. The Bills coach was Nassibs last year, & they’re always head scratchers, overdrafted. The Jets will draft Barkley, because their owner is a stupid buddinski, & is all about the hype. You’re correct. Every year, you see a ill-advised run, on overdrafted QB’s. That was my scenario, that I’m sticking with. But, I honestly think, they’re is going to be 3-4 trades, into the top 15, including us trading down.

If available I believe the Eagles will take Dion Jordan, if he is not they will draft the remaining tackle between Joeckle and Fischer, likely Fischer.

DCAR – The reason I picked Austin was (1) he may be the most dynamic playmaker in this draft and the best available athlete at 12, and my guess is Kelly will covet his speed and playmaking ability. They would play him inside where DJac and Maclin won’t go. Remember Maclin is entering his final year and unless he plays up to his talent, he will be out of here. I honestly believe we will take the best available players – regardless of position. If we can trade back to 12, that would mean we have at least one extra pick in round 2 where we can address some of the needs you are reaching for….

Bottom line Dixie is, we don’t need Tavon Austin, as long as we have DeSean Jackson period.

I understand you are a fan of his, but the reality is they are not going to draft him.

Maybe the Eagles will Trade D-Jax to the Raiders for their 2nd Round Pick (#34th Overall) in 2013 and a 4th Round in 2014
I jump on that in a heartbeat..

Dixie, Last week I said watch the Eagles draft Austin either at 4 or if they trade back. I said I would be surprised if this pick wasn’t a surprise and they took the safe player in Warmack/Fisher. DCAR, Ppaulman, gmcliff, all make reasonable arguments for why we don’t need Austin. But were talking about Chip here, he brought back a midget QB who cant play. That doesn’t sound reasonable to me. Further he likely won’t due what we think he will do.
I bet he has wet dreams every night about lining up Austin in the slot with Djax and Maclin outside or running options or with scenarios of having Austin in the backfield with Shady.

Again Im not saying drafting Austin would be what I would do (even though I think Austin will be a dynamic NFL player, I would take Warmack or Star), I just could def see Chip doing it. Just saying if he is an Eagle don’t be surprised.

I can’t get a feel of what the Jags will do –
They chucked their entire starting secondary, the were the worst DL for sacks in NFL, they having extended the contract of Eugene Monroe their LT, Chad Henne stinks but is 100% better than Gabbert.

paulman

and the Jags have a Denfensive-minded Coach in Gus Bradley who will want to make his mark right away and improve this Teams Defense first..
There is No way the Jags are selecting QB Geno Smith, No Way..

Absolutely agree with you GMCliff..
Ezzekial Ansah,Jarvi Jones could be high on their list as well if Dion Doesn’t inmpress them at their Private Workouts/Interview,etc,etc
I think Geno Smith will not go in the Top #5
Possbily the Browns or Bills and if not, it will mostly be Mid-Late 1st Round before QB’s Geno Smith/Matt Barkley are selected
There are no Franchise QB’s in this Draft as many of us have stated and have actually agreed on.. There will be Teams addressing their QB needs in the 2ns/3rd Rounds..
The Eagles don’t need a QB from this Draft Class at all, for they have VIck,Foles,Dixon, Edwards and youngster Kinnie all under Contract ..
I am still not convinced that QB Foles is best suited for Kelly’s System and I hope Kelly/Shurmur develop a System where he can excel at for Foles has the best upside by far, of any QB on this Roster and I strongly believe that he can be a winning QB in the NFL, I am just not sure it will will be with the Eagles though…

I read on Bleacher report that someone posted of the possibility of Trading twice within the First round so drop lower in the first trade both 2nd draft picks an get a late 1st that maybe to much to gamble in year one for the birds best bet stay pat pick up an OT or drop down and get the second. I do agree some of the eagles current roster players may be pieces in trades to get more picks this year an more players.

Star Lotuleilei is a beast. I encourage you guys to checkout some of his games on youtube. He has some serious push up the middle and looks very quick on his feet. I’m down with Star, Floyd, Fisher, Jordon and Johnson. No Geno Smith!

I like your Mock Pipo
I am not a real big fan of DT Sly Williams from UNC who is inconsistent..
nor QB Mike Scott from Arizona..
If Eagles Trade Foles, then I can see Drafting a QB to Develop for the Future.. If Eagles are going to keep Foles and spend the time to develop him (Which is what I hope happens) then why add another QB to the mix when they have too many other areas to updgrade..

I’ve seen Sly Williams a lot over the last 2 Years since he played for the UNC Tarheels and I catch a lot of ACC & SEC Games by living down here in the South. He’s very athletic, a real quick first step and can penetrate.. He needs more upper body strength and his motor is On & Off which is what concerns me the most about him.. I like some other DT’s besides him.. by the Way Sly WIlliams has moved up the Boards and could be a late 1st/early 2nd Rounder and definitely will be off the board by Eagles 3rd Round Selection

But i would also be ok with Milliner too. Cary Williams and Dee Milliner would be a nice combo
