Eagles cornerback Cary Williams has a right to his opinion, but there’s no way he should be going public with the fact he thinks the team’s defense should be hitting more. Why couldn’t have gone to Chip Kelly or somebody on his staff and told that he thought the team should hit more often. This guy hasn’t even been practicing for the Eagles on a consistent-basis, yet he is so quick to criticize the head coach.
Regardless of whether you think he was right or not, Williams could have gone to Kelly or defensive coordinator Billy Davis and made his opinions known, but he didn’t.
As far as I’m concerned Williams is just trying to get attention, he’s a selfish football player and that’s one of the reasons, he’s no longer on the reining Super Bowl Champions. He’s a feisty defender, who never stops running his mouth, plus I would like to see him practice for more than a few times before getting injured again.
Williams needs to start practicing on a regular basis before anybody should care about what he says. If he’s got a problem with how Kelly is running the practices, he should tell him.
Geez what a mess. I just hope one day we will see a other Troy Vincent, Bobby Taylor or Eric Allen again. Those sure were the good old days..
As if he is not speaking the truth. This defense is so soft I hear the ice cream truck music in my head when the defense takes the field. Somebody has got to due something to shake this team up…if it’s Carey, then so be it. It does not look like anybody else has the courage to step up and say something. Don’t get mad at Cary. Get mad at these soft ass players that continue to come in here ala Nate Allen.and the talent evaluation. This defense is not nasty. Give the benny Logan’s and DamionSquare’s-hungry playersa chance to play. Some of our returning vets don’t even look like they wanna be out there. The defense is an embarrassing joke which is a contradiction to what Philadelphia defense historically is!!! I like what Williams said problem is he’s a bum who can’t cover and the Eagles wasted money on this guy. Here is my prediction he won’t see year 2 of that contract in Philadelphia. The front office did a horrible job this off season from some of the coaching hires all the way too the draft.
I think we are at times to quick to judge players. Jaiqwan Jarrett is balling for the Jets…could he have been more so a victim of the pathetic coaching and scheme he was placed in. Lets face it, it sucked. Cary has a point and I think he will ball for us. At least he won’t be soft like Nnamdi and DRC.

From his play with the Ravens, he appears to be more of an “I” guy instead of a team guy. He will take stupid penalties at the worst times (just look at the last Super Bowl) that will hurt his team. I have a question. If Im Billy Davis and I go to Chip and say we can be a average defense if we just run the 4-3 with the personnel we have right now, or we can be awful with the chance of improving if we stay with 3-4 which way do we go? Chip are you willing to give up 40 points a game and losing by trying to implement your defensive scheme(with the chance of getting better later in the year) or would you rather have a competent defense right from the start. Chip has said he will fit his offensive schemes(Esp QBs) to what they can do. Does this apply to the defense to? I cant imagine Chip watching the Skins blow up and down the field on us and saying its a learning experience. Hell no he should be saying Billy get them out of that damn 3-4 and put them in a 4-3.If I was Chip the defense has another 10 days to show me improvement or we are scraping 3-4 until I get the right personnel. Its Chips duty to the offense and the paying fans to put the right personnel and right scheme in to win every week.
Cary Williams = Jonothan Paplebon. Although I agree with what Williams says he cant win. Someone should of educated him on the city he is playing in. When this defense gets blown out in some games and the Dez Bryants and Dwayne Bowes of the world are torching him(and trust me it will happen, just by the nature of the position) the boos will reign down upon Williams at the Linc. He hasn’t a clue what this fan base will do to him at the Linc. Papelbon talked all that shit and blew them saves and the boos were relentless. If he misses tackles, if he blows coverages people will remember all this talk, the daughters recitel, the sconces, the softness of the defense. All them remarks. He better be Revis or he cant win.

3-4 Makes more sense in a pass oriented league with running QB threats as well.
Cary Williams needs to play and lead from the front not the sideline. He is correct though this team is still mr softy on defense. Chip is changing that though and I expect some people to be shocked by the names that are cut on both sides of the ball but especially Defense.

A “4-3 or 3-4” Scheme won’t matter matter until the Eagles Address and Upgrade their INterior LB and Safety PLay.. You cannot be a Good Defense when soft and weak up the Middle .. (Ryans,Kendrick’s, Allen,Coleman) are not
good or tough enough..
Kendricks belogs on the Outside as many of us have stated since he was Drafted last Year… Ryan’s is simply average and plays too cautiously as a LB
and both Nate Allen/Coleman are back-up Players at Best..
Chung has some game, but needs to be paired up with a pure “Free-Safety” who can cover for him in Pass-Coverages and is best utilized as an “In-the-Box” Safety… Kenny Phillips is 80%-85% Healthy and playing timid and at 3/4 Speed and very unlikely that he plays like he did when younger.. too many Knee Issues with him to just let it loose and play a 100 MPH
Wolff will get better and has good instincts but will need a year or 2 of learning the NFL Game and getting stronger, etc,etc…

This Week’s game versus the Panthers should give a better indication on how far this Team really had improved or has to go as it get’s ready for the Season..
