Michael Vick Practices With 1st Team Again, Plans On Pushing Leg Later In The Week

Michael VickMichael Vick worked out again yesterday with the team at the starting quarterback position, but he hasn’t pushed his hamstring all the way to full speed and won’t do that until it’s a must.   NFL sources tell me Vick will continue to push his hamstring more and more as the week goes along, but he won’t do it before his body tells him it’s okay.

You may laugh, but veteran players get to know their bodies and they find ways to play through injuries by saving themselves for game time.  Vick will eventually try to run full-speed on Friday or Saturday, if his leg feels like it can take it.   The veteran quarterback may end up not running full speed until Saturday or game time on Sunday.  I was told, he’s going to listen to his body, but he plans on playing on Sunday, yet isn’t sure he’ll be 100%.

Yesterday, Vick took most of the snaps with the first team offense in the seven-on-seven period, which is a passing drill.  He also took most of the first team snaps with the first offense in the 11-on-11 period, which is a passing and running drill, but he hasn’t pull the ball down like he has been known to do and taken off running full speed on a scramble.

“He got some reps, said he felt decent”, head coach Chip Kelly said yesterday. “The biggest thing is how does he bounce back, where is he from one day to the next day. I can be honest with you: I don’t think he ran 100 percent. He wasn’t running full sprints out there yesterday in practice but it looks like he’s progressing.”

If Vick winds up being unable to go, it could wind up being a major problem for Kelly and the Birds at the quarterback position.

“I don’t mean to be evasive, and I know people ask the questions, but two weeks ago, Nick Foles was ready to go (against Tampa) and then on Friday at practice he hurts his groin. And we’re like, basically, ‘Holy crap, what do we do now?

“Thank goodness it wasn’t a real serious deal and it didn’t affect him and he went out and played really well in the Tampa Bay game. But on the same day our emergency quarterback, James Casey, goes down with a groin and misses the game.

“So I don’t go to bed any day feeling comfortable about anything, because the next day you go out and practice, something can happen. So I don’t look at it from that standpoint.”

Eagles backup quarterback Matt Barkley took some reps with the first team on Wednesday, but it’s obvious that the Eagles don’t want to play him and don’t have any confidence in him.  It seems they would much rather have Vick out there at 70% than the rookie Barkley at 100%.

Birds running back Shady McCoy said that Vick looked great in the workout.  He made the statement with a big smile.

“MV7 – let’s kick some ass”? Haha you’re so brainwashed it’s sad. 3 and 7 last year before he got injured…more turnovers than tds two straight years…but you still sing his praises. If Nick Foles, Kevin Kolb, Matt Barkley had stats like that for three straight seasons you’d run them outta town. It is a pretty sad state of affairs.

You’re so brainwashed that you think you’re not the same as the other Vick haters.

I see now you get his record last year right, after you claimed he went 4-12 in 2012.

Funny how his record in 2012 was the only fact you remember from my posts…cuz you’re a hater, with only hating Vick on your mind.

Well I provide stats and data that show that he has been ineffective. You can’t list a single one that supports why he should start. You list excuses and hypotheticals…none of which hold any water. Youi lose

You didn’t list any stats that showed Vick was a ineffective. Since you’re a hater, you listed overall record, and got it wrong in both cases. I had to correct you, now you’re using the right record.

I listed the stat that shows he’s effective as a passer- first in Eagles history in passer rating…you’re a hater so you ignored it. You win only addled Vick hater brain.

Tuck and Pierre Paul looked like they entered the last Eagle game after running a marathon. They were bending over and in pain grabbing their backs and knees like walking zombies.

Giants 24 – Eagles 13

Eli getting in to a rhythm, WR’s Randle & TE Myers becoming more involved in their Offense..
GIants Defense coming around with the addition of LB Beason who now has been in their System for a couple of Weeks

Vick Struggles and doesn’t finish the game playing at 3/4 Speed ,
McCoy struggles angain as Giants Key on Stoppping him as most Teams will do with a hurting QB and no Playmakers on the Outside (besides D-Jax)
Giants take their chances on Vick being able to make PLays from the Pocket since he can’t run 100% and stack the box to take McCoy out the Game and when Teams do this just as the Cowboys did, then the Screen Plays, the Bubble Routes, short routes don’t work with that many Defensers crowding the Line of Scrimmage (Just like they didn’t work versus the Cowboys)

This Game is on HC Chip Kelly in my opinion to see how he can adjust his Schemes based on the Health of his QB’s which we all know is an issue this week and perhaps next week as well and if he stays with the same Read-Option Base Offense, then this game is lost before the Kickoff in my opinion..
Time to earn your $6 Million Salary Chip Kelly, and show me what you got as far as being an Innovator and a HC who can make adjustments
He better implement some 2 Back Sets, Double & Triple TE sets nad mix things up, without VIck’s explosiveness, the Read-Option is too slow developing and the Giants Front Four will be living in the Eagles Backfield
Let’s see a little I Formation, and Little Wing Backfield and mix things up

Insightful post paulman, I also agree now is when we find out if Kelly is ready for prime time or another soon to be washed out college gimmick

This Game this Week versus true Rival the Giants is his Most Improtant Game of his Eagles Coachign Career in my OPinion and the Most Important Game of the 2013 Eagles Season which will decide the fate of playing meaningful games in December or not.. I also believe it’s a key game for some Veteran Players (like Celek,Herremans,Avant) to see if they drop on the Depth Chart and get replaced by Younger Players (Barbree for Herremans and Maehl for Avant and Ertz for Celek)

it seems like the Media and Fans are still stuck on last weeks debacle with the hated COwboys.. Guess whatm the Season is about this Game this Week versus the Giants and it seems not many care much about it .. and are focused one is Vick going to play or not, Of course he’s going to play, what Option does Chip Kelly have which I stated last Sunday evening when work was out about Foles Concussion.. You get diagnosed with a Concussion and leave a game becaue of it, you are out minimum 1 week and sometimes 2 by the new mandated NFL Rules governing Concussions.
Foles is not even an option as is Barkely.. Pro-Rate his 3 Int’s in 1 Quarter of Football over a course of a 60 minute game and Barkely would set an NFL Interception Record of a Dozen or so … Kinne would play before Barkley in my opinion
