Notes From The Sixers’ 109-102 Win Over Washington

thadThe Philadelphia 76ers won their second straight game on Friday night, taking down the Washington Wizards 109-102 in Washington. Their record improves to 2-0.

  • The Sixers earned their second straight come-from-behind victory, and overcame a double-digit deficit.
  • Thaddeus Young took charge of the offensive scoring tonight, pouring in 29 points with eight rebounds, two assists and a steal.
  • Evan Turner had another solid game, scoring 23 points on 10-18 shooting.
  • Michael Carter-Williams followed up his impressive debut with a solid performance, scoring 14 points with five assists. Carter-Williams hit a critical three-pointer with 6:28 remaining to give the team their first lead.
  • Tony Wroten and LaVoy Allen each added 10 points off of the bench.
  • The Sixers scored 74 of their points in the paint.
  • This is the first time that the Sixers have been 2-0 since the 2006 season.
  • In the second half, the Sixers outscored Washington 65-48.

Final Thoughts

Well, the Sixers aren’t following the script so far.

Before the season, I think a lot of people would have been surprised if we were ever going to talk about a winning streak of any kind for this team.

And sure enough, they begin the year with a win over the defending champion Heat, and a solid road win over a Washington team that expects to make a run at the playoffs this season.

Two solid wins for Brett Brown to start his coaching career. I don’t know how long this level of play will last, but its a good sign to see the team look well-coached.

Let Evan Turner play over his head, then trade him for another #1 pick.

I personally think the hate for Evan Turner is too strong. I’m more for trading: Tahddeus Young &/Or Spencer Hawes.

Don’t know what we would get for Hawes, but we can probably get more for Thad than Turner.

Plus Turner is still developing and I think could become a great complimentary player if we got someone like Wiggins (still keeping the dream alive)

Why is the hate for Turner too strong??? He was the 2nd pick in the 2010 draft, & has been a complete bust & a moaning female dog! He blows, & of course he is going to try, all of a sudden to play good, in a contract year, in which we did not extend him! Please, with Evan Turner! I’m with you with Mr. Softee Hawes. Thadd is our only veteran, worth anything. If he can get us up higher in the draft with the Pelican pick next year, or even get another 1st rounder, I’m all for it!

Thats why you trade Turner. Because he is young, You can get a first round pick for him, and possibly a player.

Brett Brown, so far to me, an excellent Coach, has already stated that Thaddeus Young, as the young veteran on the team,is his most valuable player. Mainly because you can count on him to come to play every game.

Turner overall in his career, has been whoafully inconsistent, can’t shoot, and tries to be too pretty with the ball in crucial moments of the game; not smart for someone who thinks he is an all star in his mind.

Trade him get value, accept drafting him was a mistake. Take a chance on getting DeMarcus Cousins, who they should have drafted in the first place.

Very impressed with Brett Brown so far, we may have our coach of the future.

I have a feeling that the Sixers may finish the year with a better record than the Flyers.

I’ve never been so confused in my life! Every win is another step away from Wiggins but it also shows that we have a good coach and some young talent! I’m starting to think the best pick we will get is from the Pelicans.

I just watched the Sixers on DVR — that was entertaining.
John Wall pounding his chest humiliating the young rook in the 1st quarter only to fizzle the rest of the game and have to watch Carter Williams dribble the last 19 seconds off the clock right in front of his face with a 7 point lead. Priceless.
Team ball, great ball movement and fast break ( thumbs up to Brett Brown) to get this team to bull their way into the paint with Turner & Wroten and with lesser extent but still nice penetration with MCW and Morris.

Agree about moving Turner. If they wanted to keep him they would have extended him. Can’t let him walk for nothing

Great games by Thadd Young, Turner, Hawes, MCW & Wroten..
When was the last time the 76ers had like 6-7 players in DOuble Figures..
Playing well, and with confidence, poise and like they believe their Coach has a System that can win and so far, so good..
This SG James Anderson, I am not so sure about ..

This is coaching, heart, fearlessness. Anyone still miss Jrue Holiday? MCW! MCW! Like I said before, this coach specializes in player development with a emphasis on nutrition. When you have a Thad Young shooting 3-4 from the 3pt line when he only made two 3pointers in the last 2 years that says it all. Its going to be a long season but what a start.

And for the guys on here who want this team to lose every game for Wiggins needs to wake up. What type of confidence does that give a young team if they lose every game? And look back at the teams that purposely tanked, the odds of them getting the 1st overall pick is slim to none. Yes I believe the NBA rigs the ping pong balls system, and when they see a team purposely tanking they will not grant you the 1st overall pick. So enjoy the ride guys. Theyre still going to get some good players in the draft. This draft is very deep 1-20 guys deep. And don’t forget, the Sixers will have a chance to sign two max contracts. Do you think 2 Allstars would want to come here if this team sucks and shows no heart no talent? Heck no. They see a rising future star PG in MCW and a great coach and system and that makes guys wanna come play here.

The Sixers will be contending sooner than you guys think.. #ShowYaLuv!!!

3 games, THREE GAMES, & MCW is a rising future star???? He is natural PG, that doesn’t have natural offensive ability. Can he improve, of course, & let’s hope, but, cut it the f^#@ out, with your delusional overhype, after 3 games. And you wonder why, nobody takes you serious, & why you have ZERO credibility! BTW, unless your dumb@$$ wants to continue to be in NBA purgatory for another 10-20 years, you better hope that they get picks 1-3, because SF Wiggins, SF Parker, & PF Randle, are the only potential franchise changing Superstars, coming out of this draft, you imbecile! Other than MCW, Noel, & maybe Thadd, if not traded, there is nobody on this team, that will be here next year, let alone the future of this team. Clueless imbecile, Lil Bron, Bron! SMMFH!!!!

He’ll be back, based on the fact that he’s our 1st rounder that won’t play until next year. What are you going to do, get rid of him before he even plays? I agree, he isn’t going to be more than Dalembert/ Ratliff 2.0. If that! LOL!
