Here’s The New Eagles-Cowboys Playoff Picture

Foles making a throw.

NickFoles3Next Sunday could be a great day for the Eagles and their fans.  It could be a NFC East title-clinching day for the Birds, if the Cowboys go down in the early game and the Eagles find a way to beat the Bears on Sunday night.

The day will start with Dallas battling the Redskins.  If Dallas loses to Washington, the Eagles will have the opportunity on Sunday night of wrapping up the division championship with a win over Chicago.

If the Cowboys do find a way to beat the Redskins in the early game, then the team that wins next week’s Dallas-Philadelphia game will win the NFC East.  In that case, the Eagles battle against the Bears next Sunday night will be meaningless in terms of the NFC East division title.

In other words, if the Cowboys beat the Redskins next Sunday afternoon, it will put Eagles head coach Chip Kelly on the hot seat and he’ll have to make a big decision about whether to play his starters in the Sunday night game or have them sit.  If he plays his starters against the Bears and somebody gets hurt, you know what he’s going to hear.

On the other hand, if he doesn’t play his starters and they lose the next week against the Cowboys, people will second-guess him and say the team lost its edge by taking a week off.

If I were Kelly I would sit my starters and most important players like LeSean McCoy and Nick Foles, if the Cowboys beat the Redskins.

In another scenario, if the Skins pull off the upset over Dallas, the Birds will have a chance to clinch the title in front of the nation.  Kelly and the Eagles will have plenty of incentive to beat Chicago in that situation because they could wind up with a week off before the playoffs start.

If the Eagles make the playoffs, they’ll be hosting the San Francisco 49ers or the Carolina Panthers.

They could very well be hosing the Saints which would be the best case scenario and their only prayer at a first round win. Saints are very beatable outside that dome.

I could see the Eagles losing to Chicago which would drop them to the four seed. Then they end up with the Saints instead of the Niners. Maybe they beat the Saints and then finish with a respectable beating from the Seahawks where they only lose like 21-17. That would be a great season for this team.

G it also is not a meaningless game with chicago. It has relevance for seeding. The game with the bears could be the difference between a three or four seed. As stated above, I think the four would be better.

rest the injured and irreplaceable starters — young guys like Foles, Johnson, Ertz, Logan, need the work but injured like Wolfe, Celek, Fletcher or important like Shady, Peters, Ryans, need to be protected if game is meaningless

You can’t just sit players out for a Week and then Start it back up again
You play them regardless this never works when Teams try to do this..
You play to Win every game to build momentum, you build a lead and want to pull some Starters out, then do it.. or substiture earlier on.. But not to Dress your Best Players sends a bad message to the rest of the Team, it’s Fans, the integrity of the NFL and especially to Fantasy Football Champions like myself…
Now if a Player is dinged up, that’s a different story

Couldn’t agree more ….with every team ,but especially a young team learning how to close out the season …and a head coach guiding it…results are the bottom line ..
