Notes From The Sixers’ 101-99 Win Over Portland

thad2The Philadelphia 76ers won their fourth straight game on Saturday night, taking down the Blazers 101-99. Their record improves to 12-21.

  • Thaddeus Young has been playing some great ball lately. Young scored 30 points on 14-20 from the floor and added six rebounds. Thad has now scored 25 or more in six of the team’s last seven games.
  • Evan Turner was second in scoring with 23. Turner also had seven rebounds.
  • Michael Carter-Williams shot just 5-16 last night. He also took an elbow to the head and was evaluated for a concussion.
  • Tony Wroten supplied 12 points off of the bench.
  • Spencer Hawes had only nine points, but did manage nine rebounds.
  • The Sixers got out to a nice early lead, outscoring Portland 32-19 in the first quarter. They opened the game with an impressive 22-4 run.
  • The Sixers also dropped more than 30 in the final quarter.
  • Portland would fight back to tie the game at 94 in the fourth. Damien Lillard had an opportunity to force overtime, but missed the final shot.

Final Thoughts

The Sixers are starting to worry me.

After ripping off four in a row to complete this West Coast trip, they’re now just two games out of the final playoff position.

Do I even need to say what a disaster it would be if the Sixers got to the playoffs an an eighth seed and missed out on this year’s lottery?

They should get a haul of talent for Young and Hawes at the deadline….especially if teams panic for a stretch push.

Forget the frickin lottery and get Nerlens Noel on the court with Arnette Moultrie and Thad Young…that’s a front court a lot of teams would be envious of already. The Sixers don’t need to blow the team up they only need another legitimate point guard and center on the bench.

Now that the Birds have lost, we can watch the Flyers do their annually choke, the Sixers flush their shot shot at a legit future star, & another ride for last place for the AARP Ruin 2morrows!

Even bad teams have stretches of good play. With the Sixers all it takes is for one part to go down then they implode. No need to rush back Noel just put him on the Blake Griffin rookie rehab plan. Young/Hawes/Turner will be showcased heavily in the next couple of weeks. However as soon as one goes this team will plummet. Brett Brown is showing early he is a very good coach for a young team.

DeSean Jackson, coming off the best season of his career, made it clear Monday that he wants the Eagles to re-negotiate the five-year contract he signed 22 months ago.
