The Philadelphia 76ers lost their fourth straight game on Saturday night, falling to the Knicks 102-92. Their record drops to 12-25.
- The Sixers doomed themselves after only scoring 12 points in the second quarter. They also allowed New York to score 32 during that same period.
- James Anderson tied for the team lead in points with 17. He also supplied seven rebounds. Anderson has given the team some nice efforts since rejoining the starting lineup.
- Michael Carter-Williams took only six shot attempts, finishing with 11 points with seven rebounds, seven assists, and two steals. MCW also took six attempts at the free-throw line.
- Spencer Hawes scored 17 points to go with seven rebounds, but played in foul trouble throughout the night.
- Evan Turner shot just 4-11, finishing with 12 points.
- Thaddeus Young had 15 points with five rebounds, three assists, and four steals.
- The Sixers allowed themselves to be dominated by Amare Stoudemire, who came off of the bench for 21 points with five rebounds in only 21 minutes of action. Stoudemire has had a rough season in a reduced role, but tonight he was a differencemaker for New York.
- The team did do a decent job limiting Carmelo to just 18 points on 21 shots.
Final Thoughts
Evan Turner’s play has really tailed off from it was at the beginning of the season.
Through the first few weeks of the year, Turner was on fire. He was a consistent 20-point scorer, and he was finally starting to resemble a player who was taken with the second overall pick.
Lately, Turner has really struggled to be efficient with his shot, and there’s been many games like tonight where he just hasn’t been effective.
Turner is a guy I’m confident that the Sixers will trade before the deadline. He’s not consistent enough to warrant an extension, and with his contract up at the end of the year, its in the best interest of the team to get what they can for him.
Hopefully Turner can recapture some of his early season magic soon to increase his trade value before the deadline.
