Notes From The Sixers’ 103-78 Loss To Chicago

Carlos Boozer, Spencer HawesThe Philadelphia 76ers lost their second straight game on Saturday night, falling to the Bulls 103-78. Their record drops to 13-27.

  • For the second straight night, the opposing defense really gave the Sixer offense fits. Philadelphia scored only 19 points in the first quarter, 12 in the second, and finally hit the 20-point mark in the third. It was one of their worst offensive showings of the season.
  • Michael Carter-Williams had another rough night, shooting just 5-22 for 10 points. MCW took no trips to the free throw line, and had only five rebounds with five assists. The lone bright spot to his game tonight were his five steals.
  • Thaddeus Young scored 12 points, shooting just 6-17 and missing all five of his three-point attempts.
  • Spencer Hawes had only nine points and six rebounds.
  • James Anderson played the best out of the starters, scoring 11 points with seven rebounds.
  • Evan Turner had only seven points.
  • Once again, the lone bright spot in tonight’s contest was Dewayne Dedmon, who collected seven rebounds for the third straight game in limited playing time off of the bench.
  • The Bulls had five players score in double figures.
  • Joakim Noah dominated for 21 points and 16 rebounds.

Final Thoughts

Its incredible to look at how much has changed with this team since the third game of the season.

Back in October, the Sixers had just won their third straight to begin the year 3-0 against these same Bulls. Michael Carter-Williams outdueled Derrick Rose, and the surprising young Sixers were off to an unexpected start.

Now MCW looks much more like the raw, unpolished product that many expected him to be. He’s turned in two really abysmal performances, and the rest of the starting lineup has gone cold with him.

The Sixers are getting nothing from Spencer Hawes and Evan Turner right now. Thaddeus Young has been their most consistent player throughout the year, but even he is struggling.

When the starters on this team are off of their game, the Sixers are really in trouble. The lack of bench depth becomes even more of an issue, and even an average team like the Bulls can put dominating shows like the one we saw tonight.

MCW is about to hit the a rookie Wall
And Turner,Thad & Hawes are all logging a lot of minutes and getting worn down as the as Season goes along and are just not
30-35 Minutes a Game Players but with the lack of Depth, all these 4 Players are are playing more minutes then they should be.
I Expect a lot more blowouts as they head into the 2nd Half of the Season..

We can also bank on one or all three players being traded before the deadline.. This is a certainty in my eyes. The Sixers are looking to stock up on First round draft picks.. These three guys, Hawes, Turner and Young are goners.. If not they will take a shot with free agency..

The way I see it is that they’ll all be gone by the February deadline..

When your coach comes out and says after the loss that “this is the type of year it is” you know that they have their eyes set on this upcoming draft and changing this franchise around for the long haul. This is nothing more than a rebuilding year. I just hope Hinkie maximizes this opportunity we have to land multiple lottery picks..

The problem is JH, is that the bottom feeders of the NBA are in a similar situation and want to keep their Lottery Picks also
Is a Sacramento, Bucks, Jazz or whover want a Turner,Young or Hawes
Instead of a young Lottery Pick??? No,
The only Teams that would want any of these 3 Players are Playoff Bound Teams that need a player or two to enhance their Chances or if they suffer an Injury..so if the 76ers are to move/trade any of these 3 or a combo of them,
They most likely would get a middle to late 1st Round Pick at best..
