Notes From The Phillies’ 6-5 Loss To Pittsburgh

bogThe Philadelphia Phillies lost their Grapefruit League match to Pittsburgh Pirates 6-5 on Friday afternoon.

On The Mound

  • Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez got the start, and turned in a somewhat decent performance, lasting 3.1 innings and allowing only one run on five hits. 
  • Ken Giles followed Gonzalez with 1.2 innings of scoreless work, allowing one hit and striking out two.
  • Mario Hollands pitched 0.2 innings, and got rocked for three runs on four hits, increasing his ERA to 11.81.
  • Hector Neris pitched 1.1 scoreless, and allowed one hit while striking out two.
  • Jake Diekman allowed a run on two hits in an inning of work.
  • Jeanmar Gomez took the loss, allowing a run in the ninth.

At The Plate

  • John Danks got a start and went 2-5 with a couple of singles.
  • Cord Phelps played second, and went 1-4 with a walk.
  • Cody Asche went 1-3 with a two-run homer.
  • Darin Ruf went 0-4, dropping his average to .171.
  • Brian Bogusevic went 2-4 with a solo homer.
  • Russ Canzler went 2-4 with a couple doubles and an RBI.
  • Cameron Rupp was the catcher, and went 1-3 with an RBI.
