Chip Kelly: Tim Tebow Workout Was Just Part Of Team’s Homework

TimTebow3Eagles head coach Chip Kelly talked to NFL Total Access today at the NFL Owners meeting in Arizona.  The coach didn’t think it was a big deal, but just part of what teams do.

“I’ve always been a fan of Tim,” Kelly said. “We bring in a lot of players for private workouts, it’s just he’s the one that everyone keeps talking about. We brought in Terrelle Pryor for a workout and Thad Lewis in for a workout. When players are available for you to work them out it’s the same thing of going to the Veteran Combine or going to the Super Regional Combine.”

“It’s getting an exposure to a player so that when you have to make a decision and say ‘Hey, what are we going to do now. You say, I don’t know anything about these players. Let’s bring them in and work them out, and it may be too late at that point in time.’ So all we’re doing is just doing our homework.”

I wouldn’t mind seeing Tebow on the Eagles as a 3rd String QB, a TE/HB and Play some Special Teams.. He could probably help an NFL Team in these Areas .. Could he not block well as a leading FB or TE, could he not go out and catch Passes as a TE split out against a LB… Could he run some Wildcat Packages here and there just to keep a Defense on their Toes and have to prepare for that..
If Chip keeps Bradford to Run his Offense, obviously every Opponent’s Defense knows that Bradford is not a threat to run. but you bring in a Tebow once, twice a game to mix things up, He could probably be effective…
On Special Teams, I could see Tebow being effective…
