Notes From The Phillies’ 7-6 Loss To Boston

jeromeThe Philadelphia Phillies lost their Grapefruit League match against the Boston Red Sox on Sunday 7-6.

On The Mound

  • Jerome Williams got the start, and imploded on the mound, allowing five runs on 10 hits over three innings. Williams allowed two homers, and increased his ERA to 5.73.
  • Andy Oliver, left-handed Rule 5 pick who had been having a pretty good spring, allowed two runs on three hits in 1.2 innings. He did manage to strikeout three.
  • Jeanmar Gomez pitched 1.1 scoreless.
  • Luis Garcia worked a scoreless eighth.
  • Kevin Slowey pitched a clean ninth.

At The Plate

  • Ben Revere followed up his two-hit game on Saturday with another 0-for, failing to pick up a hit in any of his three at-bats.
  • Freddy Galvis went 0-2.
  • Andres Blanco went 1-3 with a two-run double.
  • Cody Asche went 0-2.
  • Cesar Hernandez went 0-3, dropping his average to .091.
  • Russ Canzler went 1-4 with a walk and played first base.
  • Jeff Francoeur went 1-4 in right field.
  • Odubel Herrera played center and went 0-2 with a walk and scored a run.

What Players are looking Good this Spring?
Blanco & Herrera ? Francouer ?

I think Herrera is going to be a good player, I think Asche is solid. Franco is in the minors…they need to put him down for 40 days for contractual reasons plus he isn’t hitting. I’m wondering about the four or five young pitchers who are starting in the minors…
