Punters should punt and keep their mouths shut. It’s obviously a time of the year when all the real players are on vacation before going to camp in August. With the real players unavailable, WFAN in New York interviewed Giants punter Steve Weatherford.
The Boomer and Carton show on WFAN in New York gave Weatherford the chance to take some shots at the Eagles.
“I’m gonna give you a Ferrari (in reference to Sam Bradford) that maybe won’t be running all the time, or I’m giving you a nice Cadillac sedan (Mark Sanchez),” Weatherford said. “It’s not the fastest but you know what you’re going to get out of it. Bradford can go from zero to 60 in three seconds, but you don’t know if he’s gonna start up some days.”
Next up, he took a shot at Chip Kelly and another one at Bradford.
“Chip Kelly will get himself in serious trouble if they get an extension for that guy,” Weatherford said of Bradford. “And (if) he gets hurt? He’s done.”
Next up Weatherford went after Tim Tebow.
“I’m the biggest Tim Tebow fan in the world,” Weatherford said. “I mean, who wouldn’t want their daughter to date a guy like that? I’ll tell you what, I don’t want him taking snaps for my team.”
Weatherford will be hiding behind his teammates when the Eagles and Giants play later in the year. This is why you could make the argument that punters aren’t really football players.
Actually weatherford is pretty spot on here. This isn’t talking trash its stating the obvious.
