Charley Barkley Likes Okafor, But Is Concerned About Embiid

JahlilOkafor24Former Sixers All-Star forward and current NBA analyst Charles Barkley gave his opinion of what’s going on with the 76ers and Joel Embiid’s right foot.

“I’m very concerned and I’m very disappointed in the Sixers,” Barkley said to John Clark of CSNPhilly.com. “I don’t know all the ins and outs — I don’t understand how you do that surgery and you’re not checking in periodically. You wait a whole year before you realize the surgery wasn’t successful.”

I thought the same thing when it first was reported that his foot wasn’t healing properly.

“Maybe I’m just wrong, but it seems to me like every couple of months, they should have been doing something to check on his foot to see how it’s progressing. I don’t understand how you wait an entire year and then realize his foot is not healing properly. I have to blame the Sixers for that fiasco.”

Now that we find out he re-broke his foot, maybe we can understand why there were reports that all of a sudden his foot wasn’t healing, when the truth of the matter was that he re-broke that right foot.

It was a good thing that the Sixers were able to select Jahlil Okafor during this year’s NBA draft.

“You have to be concerned,” Barkley said. “But I still like (Jahlil) Okafor. I thought he was one of the best players in the draft. With the Embiid thing, there’s nothing they can do about that. They just have to wait and see. With the Lakers taking (D’Angelo) Russell, [the Sixers] got very fortunate to get another big guy to go with Nerlens (Noel). It worked out for the Sixers.”

I am sure if you stopped and asked a 100 People on the Street, they would say the same thing as Sir Charles stated…
What’s not to like about Jhahil Okafor’s Game and attitude and maturity right out of the gate just like who would not be concerned about Embiid’s continual foot problem’s causing his 2nd straight year of inactivity..
I guess quoting Sir Charles just validates what we already knew..that Okafor was a great pick at #3 and the right move for he is a big part of the 76ers Future
While Embiid was a High-Risk/High Reward Selection that probably ends up having a very short, injury riddled, chronic foot problems for his NBA Career

One simple question to those who truly follow… Does the move help them win or lose more games? It’s a one word answer… No further explanation… Win more or lose more… I guess that’s 2 words
