Week 1 Picks

VinnyCurry18Indianapolis @ Buffalo

The Bills defense comes out fired up, and keeps things close, but Luck and the Colts pull away late.

Pick: Indianapolis 23, Buffalo 16

Green Bay @ Chicago

Green Bay begins the year with a layup.

Pick: Green Bay 38, Chicago 17

Kansas City @ Houston

Andy Reid’s Chiefs have come crashing down to Earth since the 9-0 start and are a mediocre bunch. Houston wins low-scoring affair at home.

Pick: Houston 20, Kansas City 16

Carolina @ Jacksonville

The Jaguars put together a strong effort at home and upset the wounded Panthers.

Pick: Jacksonville 26, Carolina 20

Cleveland @ New York Jets

The Jets are nothing special, but Todd Bowles’ group should win their home opener against an awful Browns team.

Pick: New York 23, Cleveland 14

Seattle @ St. Louis

The Seahawks defense is missing some key talent, but they’ll still hold down Nick Foles and the Rams.

Pick: Seattle 30, St. Louis 13

Miami @ Washington

Miami gets a win over the league’s biggest dumpster fire.

Pick: Miami 27, Washington 17

New Orleans @ Arizona

The now-healthy Cardinals outscore the new-look Saints.

Pick: Arizona 28, New Orleans 24

Detroit @ San Diego

The Chargers may get better as the season goes along, but they don’t have the talent to keep up with the Lions

Pick: Detroit 24, San Diego 20

Baltimore @ Denver

I don’t think Peyton Manning can make it through an entire season at this point, but the Ravens don’t have the firepower to beat Denver on the road.

Pick: Denver 27, Baltimore 23

Cincinnati @ Oakland

The Raiders finally have a little bit of talent to work with, but the Bengals go on the road and beat them. Cincy’s defense is the difference.

Pick: Cincinnati 26, Oakland 16

Tennessee @ Tampa Bay

Winston vs Mariota! Advantage goes to Winston and his superior skill-position players at home.

Pick: Tampa Bay 24, Tennessee 10

New York Giants @ Dallas

The Giants don’t have the defense to hold back the Cowboys, Dallas rolls to 1-0.

Pick: Dallas 30, New York 20

Minnesota @ San Francisco

The Vikings are a trendy pick to be a surprise team this year, and they should get off on the right foot against the depleted 49ers.

Pick: Minnesota 24, San Francisco 13

Philadelphia @ Atlanta

I don’t think the Falcons have the defensive talent to hold back the Eagles.

Pick: Philadelphia 30, Atlanta 21

Denny Basens

Bills 17-0 over Overrated Colts..
McCoy has 7 Carries for 7 Yards
QB Tyrod Taylor has 55 Yards on 6 Rushes/Scrambles
Karlos Williams 1 Carry for 30 Yards, Percy Harvin 1 Carry for 9 Yards and4 Receptions for 76 Yards with 1 TD
Percy Harvin a complete wildcard, if he remains healthy with WR’s Sammy Watkins & Robert Woods, with TE Clay, and RB’s McCoy, Brown & Williams andamobile QB inTyrod Taylor, they may have the most dangerous Offense’s in the NFL in terms of matching up with outside speed

Bills Up 7-0
Redskins D-Jax out for Game after re-pulling Hamstring and could be out for a few weeks
Cam Newton throws a terrible Int under no Pressure
Browns QB J McNown, Johnny Football comes in and tosses a 50 Yard TD pass to put the Browns up..
Each year gets worse and worse in terms of Quality Football being played at the Start of the Season as more and more Teams are afraid of Injuries during the pre-season and the overall lack of contact during less and less practice makes for some shoddy play for the first few weeks anymore…
Toss in the Heat, Conditioning, New Coach’s & Players and the first few weeks on the NFL Season is really an extension of Pre-Season but it’s like this for everyone so the experienced Teams withStable Coaching Staffs and Systems really have an edge out of the gate and should take advantage

Kam Chancellor has nothing to do with this game. They gave up special teams TD and the offense looked horrendous early.

Max Unger looks like a bigger loss than Kam Chancellor in this game.

The Seahawks have given up less than 75 yards on 20 some odd rushes.

The deal about Foles is not his “talent” or “ability”. I’ll give you Bradford has better there. But the Rams offensive players unanimously voted him Captain after only a couple weeks of practice. They are rallying around the guy….hopefully Eagles will do the same with Bradford.

Bortles with a terribly telegraphed pass….still young.

Johnny Manziel with one of his 7 td passes this year.

I think if a guy dives forward, stretches the ball out and the ball comes out when it hits the ground should be a fumble, not a “down by contact”….talking to you Russel Wilson.

Andy Reid annoying fantasy owners everywhere. Up 3 tds and Charles with only 11 carries. No one in North America started Alex Smith.

Is Luck overrated? Seems to me he gets a lot of “Brett Favre” like press.

At least we agree on something. JaBustus Winston. Mariotta the much better pick.

Why you hate Foles so much? Kid has balls. Teammates love him. Counts for something. I hope Bradford has the same.

If not…….do you understand the carnage? All on the trade….Bradford fails and its new coach, Roseman back, top 5 pick in 2017 and another 5 years of misery.

I don;t give a shit abut Koolidiots bluster. Foles is a good QB with moxie….and was traded away for an arguable more talented QB.

Well……if that blows up….it a 4 year disaster. Go Bradford.

IzzellJenkins

Actually Vinnie I don’t hate Foles. However I see his flaws and I don’t over emphasize “moxie” etc. That’s nonsense. Hes a nice middle of the pack QB but is nothing special IMO. His awareness is horrendous takes way too much punishment etc.

There is no carnage on the trade outside of giving up the 2nd. Bradford is a gamble and more talented. I am of the sentiment middle of the pack means shit. Boom or bust.

Eaaxtle. If its bust its total Eagles Carnage in FO, coaching staff, scheme and QB over the next 2 years.

The question to answer – and with will be answered over the next few weeks – Is Bradford “boom”??? Can he play like Foles did the last 5-6 mins of that game? Or that Redskins game? Does he have that moxie? We’ll see.

IzzellJenkins
IzzellJenkins
September 13, 2015 4:59 pm

Your exaggerating with the carnage Vinnie. Pure nonsense. If Bradford doesn’t do it you have near 20 million free and Chip has proven that his offense is QB friendly and he will have to bide his time to find a QB.

Lurie has shown Kelly is in full control and is going nowhere.

The Foles Redskins game didn’t make his career. He hasn’t built upon it. Foles has shown nothing to win anything of substance. So its just talent for talent between Foles and Bradford and its not an argument who is more talented and the better player.

Lurie cut his prized pupil at the knees for Kelly. Please the Eagles have 4 prime time games in the first half of the season. The reason? Chip Kelly.

It’s no sense to act like Lurie is going to go against protocol that he has set. He’s all in more than anyone.

He did nothing but repeat his Reid Banner dilemma and went pro coach once again.

IzzellJenkins
IzzellJenkins
September 13, 2015 5:38 pm

Even the Rams didn’t go overboard on Foles. He got an Andy Dalton contract.

Andy Dalton isn’t a franchise QB nor is going to put a team over the top. He’s nice above average at times QB for a defensive minded coach. That’s all. It’s not a detriment or a knock, but acting like those kinds of players make or break a franchise is horseshit.

Izzell usually on the Eagles you make good points. however you are sounding like hot air this week. Foles signed a nice contract, about what he deserved. He played a very nice game against a very good team. It’s week 1 and all we can judge is that … He made some tough throws and won. A QB gets a W-L record hung on him, fair or not they do. Foles has a good one.

Why because when I view a QB I view the total picture? I supported Foles early, I think the kid can play but he’s no franchise QB and a week one win where showed the same pros and cons of why I didn’t like him only as long term option are still there. But by all means let’s forget a PHENOMENAL effort from the defense and special teams and just say Foles is awesome.

Why is it that when Foles wins its always due to defense and ST.? His 117 rating is discounted. His touch throw in OT against Sherman and Berry isn’t mentioned yet a throw where a D back is mentioned. Foles is good

Just asking….did you think Foles play was good last year or did you caveat his play because of Oline etc?

I thought his play was sporadic but the results were great. I see him as flacco. I don’t think he is week in and week out elite . I think he absolutely can win at the highest level . I watched flacco at UD, watch s lot of himat Balt because my wife’s family is season tix holders. I think foles has IT. Sometimes not pretty

We agree to disagree then. Foles is not on Flaccos level. Flacco has IT. Foles has yet to show he has IT when it counts.

His play was sporadic but the results were not because of him and had everything to do with total team play.

I view Foles as a good player with a limited ceiling and counting on him to carry a team is a mistake. And I view the NFL is a Franchise QB league for ultimate success. Just my opinion.

I will say this…its not my stance but I see why its taken. Foles is viewed negatively by a lot of people because he has been given leeway for a lot of flaws that previous QBs weren’t given the benefit of the doubt were. McNabb would have never gotten the love Foles got if he played like he did early in his career IMO.

So let me get this straight… There is an asterisk next to foles W-L record but 5 didn’t benefit from JJs defense? Harbaughs ST unit? Funny how that works…completely insane argument

Toast it’s similar to how you mention a DB falling down on a big foles play but don’t acknowledge him threading the needle between Sherman and berry… Convenient for your narrative

I told you about that toast shit dickhead. You just compared Foles to a SuperBowl winner and elite playoff QB and in the same realm of comparison to a HOF QB that won this town a ton of games off his arms and legs alone.

Whose narrative is convenient?

Toast I didn’t make the nickname! You earned it! I didn’t compare them I just asked why ones wins have an asterisk and ones don’t…. I like butter and jelly on my TOAST

Wow, so you are not giving Jameis the same patience and kid gloves treatment you gave Foles…lol..of course not. He just came into the league and you are declaring him a bust….ok!

Dude. We crack jokes. There are 3 or 4 in here whose lives seem to depend on whether or not Jamarcus, or Jamesis, or Vick, or RGIII, or whomever does well.

Just busting on that for effect!!

That being said…Mariotta was the better pick. When in doubt – maturity counts!

Im not a Winston fan either EHL. Dude puts the ball into play to much for my liking. I wouldn’t have given up the house for Marriotta either. You destroy the ability to help your QB grow without being able to upgrade your team.

I am a Winston fan, he will take time to rid himself of bad habits because he wants to make plays, but, he will be fine.
Destroying your ability to help qb grow…another draft will come around so you just build accordingly. So far, I like Agholor, but not giddy about the rest of the picks, not a Rowe fan. I would give this past draft up for him seeing who they selected.

EHL it would have been next three years of drafts for Marrriota and even then Titans weren’t giving him up. It was a pipe dream .

I would not do that either if that is what they was asking for. I would be just as happy with Jared Goff from Cal in the 2016 draft. Hopefully Bradford can stay healthy and it will not be a problem come contract time.

The problem is to get any Top QB Prospect in the Draft, you either have to tank the Season and have a good QB Class or Trade the Farm away… How do the Eagles Draft QB J Goff in 2016 when they are attempting to make a Playoff Run and win as many games as possible in 2015?

All the great coaches do TS. Its an “emperor has no clothes situation” you have to hope there is someone on the sideline that is strong enough to say “Umm WTF?”

I liked the short kick att (if that’s what you are talking about) It didn’t hurt them.

If they get it they probably win…if not….have to hold stl to a fg…they did.

If its about the 4th and 1. Had to go Lynch after 6 months of “what the fuck were you thinking” after the SB.

They have huge problems on that line and couldn’t run all day. The 4th and 1 play made no sense, actually should have been opposite from the SB. Like the analyst said I hate run calls from shotgun on 4th and 1. It is a big problem I have with Chip last year and hope the backs we have this year get that taken care of.

Billy Davis no EXCUSES. Ive watched all the teams and nobody is going up and down the field with wide open recievers. Im seeing 4th and 5th round pick DBs with good coverage. If I see Matt Ryan completing 70% of his passess and receivers open all over the field. No excuses.
