Is Sam Bradford The Eagles’ Biggest Issue Moving Forward?

SamBradfordvsJets4With a 3-3 record, the Philadelphia Eagles find themselves in first place. The strength of the team is the defense and the biggest question mark heading into week seven is quarterback Sam Bradford.

Sam Bradford leads the NFL with four red-zone interceptions, three of which have occurred during the current winning streak. His nine total turnovers in just six games, puts him on a pace of twenty four this season. These statistics are expected for rookies transitioning into the league or for players who lack the necessary skills to be successful at the professional level. These statistics are not acceptable for Sam Bradford.

When the Eagles acquired Sam Bradford in an offseason trade; the overwhelming concern had to do with the injury history. Chip Kelly may suggest that Bradford is fully healthy, but it doesn’t appear that way. It’s evident by how Bradford reacts at times during live game action that he isn’t play at 100% capacity. Whether there is still lingering ailments from the previous injuries or a lack of confidence that the surgically repaired knee can hold up, Bradford looks distracted when the pocket in front of him breaks down.

When watching film of his red-zone interceptions, Bradford has failed to place the football in a spot that only his receiver can catch the football. The word “accuracy” was often the term used by Chip Kelly when reporters asked about what Sam Bradford would bring to the Eagles as their new starting quarterback. Bradford has shown glimpses of accuracy, but like the play of the Eagles throughout the 2015 season, it’s been inconsistent.

Sam Bradford was acquired because Chip recognized how far quarterbacks Nick Foles and Mark Sanchez could lead the Eagles. Chip believes Bradford has yet to play his best football, but unfortunately Bradford is the biggest issue for the Eagles as they prepare for the Carolina Panthers.

Over the last two weeks the offensive line and rushing attack have shown steady improvement. This should give Bradford confidence but it won’t make the necessary defensive coverage reads that he is failing to diagnose.

There is no set of “performance” based circumstances where I could see Chip Kelly making the switch at the starting quarterback position. Sam Bradford is the guy moving forward, but hopefully he starts playing like the guy who was labeled with “potential.”

Lmfao no gang ties at all. Haaaa

Complex – DeSean Jackson’s home in Tarzan, Calif. was invaded by several people, and at least one person was pistol whipped during the home invasion, according to TMZ Sports. The intruders reportedly bum-rushed their way into the home early Wednesday morning brandishing guns. At least six people were inside during the invasion and were able to fight them off. Investigators told TMZ Sports that they believe the suspects had been in the home before, because they knew where security cameras inside the home were located. The cops also believe the intrusion may be gang-related, which is funny because Jackson was reportedly let go from the Eagles due to alleged gang ties. The Redskins wide receiver wasn’t in the home at the time of the invasion. This isn’t the first time a home belonging to Jackson has been broken into. Last year, someone broke into his Philadelphia home and took $250,000 in cash, two semi-automatic handguns, $125,000 in jewelry, and a safe.

———–

DeSean for the most part has stayed pretty pretty quiet this season. He hasn’t played this season, but he also hasn’t been an issue off the field. No videos of him punching anyone at a club, no locker room leaks about him being a problem, nothing at all. Then this story breaks today and you’re like “oh come on, DeSean”. From an outsiders perspective, it looks like a case of “guy still hangs around with his old friends and lets them use his money”. He wasn’t there, but who knows what was going on in his house. And obviously his house=his responsibility. I believe the old saying goes “you are the company you keep”.

It sucks though because DeSean does seem like he’s cleaned up his act. He came off pretty well in that reality show he had, he has a long-time girlfriend, a baby on the way, all that stuff. Just can’t shake his past.

The real big takeaway here is how soft are these gang members? How is there a home invasion with two rival gangs and nobody is shot? That’s not a gang fight. Someone was pistol whipped? What, did someone say the name of that restaurant with all the goofy shit on the walls and the mozzarella sticks? This seems like the nicest gang fight of all time. They might have to think long and hard if they deserve their bandanas.

Wonder what Stephen A Smith will have to say.

I saw Stephen A Smith’s First take show today and he talked Washington. He was complaining that Kirk Cousins is being protected by the coach when talking to the media about his sub par QB play while the same coach was mean to RG3 to the media for the same results all the while laying it on real thick … Gruden Racism. I’m going to watch TMZ now. Hope the Jaccpot studio wasn’t damaged in the break in.

Yes, Stop the endzone INTs, Most ever in a FULL SEASON 3 tied at 5. Sam has 4 in 6 games……also stop throwing to no one. Holy shit it’s frustrating. Still giving him till game 10…then I let loose :). As for Jackson…who gives a rats arse, he is the problem of the Redskins.

30th in 3rd down conversions? That is a good stat to explain their struggles.

Overall rankings are meaningless as you see 10-15 yards separate 5 from 15. The Eagles have been pretty good against the run, so I want to see how that plays out against Carolina and I want to know if they will spy Cam or not now that he is healthy this time because he will burn them all night long if they give him space. Lastly is the Olsen match-up.

On the offensive side of the ball, I think that they are going to have a lot of problems running the ball, so it will be on Bradford. And frankly I am not convinced that he can win a game after he keeps throwing it to the wrong team. His 63.2% is misleading as most his completions seem to be behind the line of scrimmage or within 5 yards. He has been crazy inaccurate down the field. I would like to see them feature Ertz in this game. Throw it to him until they stop it.

Yards are what Ranks a Team and generally are misleading..
It’s the Points Scored and Allowed, that go along with the Turnovers, and 3rd Down & Red-Zone Efficiency that will Determine a Game..(and Penalties too)

But breakdown in Yardage does help identify Teams Tendancies, etc,etc

In the Eagles Case, If they can Hold the Panther’s to their Average or Below Average in Rushing, than they probably Win
In the Panthers Case, If they Hold QB Bradford to his Passing Average or Below, they have a much greater chance of Winning

Credit to writer on yard barker ,but as I dissect the numbers it provokes for all of us a few interesting questions. Which I’m not certain anybody definitively knows ..SAMs numbers after 6 … Completed 63.2% 1561 yds 9 tds. 9 picks 11th ranked offense ..100 y.p.g and rank 8th in total points ..can we go under the hod ? We faced a saints team and Sam was to be fair ,good. ,one of his better games ..He then faced th 32ndranked Giants and sank it up (especially making novice red zone reads ) ..he leads the league with4 ints in that twilight zone ,and ranks 2nd in the league in total ints..
Some of us (we know who we are ) have talked about ad nauseum rust …well if you thought he needed an oil can ,let’s dig into the schedule..past ..facing the Giants 32 ranked and no pass rush …mystery? He also faced Sam I am faced in 6 weeks 50% of the time the worst ranked defenses ..Atlanta..New York and New Orleans )2-1 record. One middle of the pack defenses in wash..loss and two top ten defenses in all as (L) and the jets (w) ..now looking ahead ..post rust he’ll be facing four straight top ten pass ranked teams Carolina 8th ..Dallas 10th Miami 6th and amazingly Tampa 3rd..all have ample pressure as well ..look for sports science drinks on the sidelines ..and an oil can for the tin man..

Watching Tulsa vs Memphis, Paxton Lynch continues to impress, but I want to bring up a Tulsa receiver by the name of Keyarris Garrett, 6’4″ 221. He has 13 catches for over 250 yards and 3 TD’s, this production is great, but he has been consistent with the production in games played this season. I hope he gets invited to the senior bowl, he is one I will be keeping my eye on.

Remember EHL, per GMCliff’s house rules,
Since I brought up Memphis QB P Lynch first a few weeks back, he’s my guy and no one else can comment on him… Ha

WR Garrett looks like a real good prospect …..
Did you watch QB Jared Goff the other night versus UCLA…
Another shaky performance… UCLA’s FreshmanRosen outplayed him big time..
Goff has hurt himself these last few big games where he just hasn’t played at that well…

Yes, I watched Cal Thursday night, I am not worried about Goff much, he can make all the throws and is accurate, his line is not helping him out to much right now, but I have seen plenty of him to know who he is on the field.
