Eagles-Patriots Preview

TomBrady1The Eagles travel to Gillette Stadium on Sunday, and face a Patriots team coming off their first loss of the season.  Forget for a moment that the 4-7 Eagles look to snap their three game losing streak to the best team record wise in the AFC.
Tom Brady is 48-8 in his career during the month of December, holds a 96-15 home record for his career while compiling a 13-2 record against NFC East teams.  Even if the Eagles were playing good football at the moment, they have an insurmountable challenge on their hands this week.
Do the Eagles have a shot at winning this football game?  Anything is possible, but there is no scenario in which I see Chip Kelly outcoaching Bill Belichick, Bradford playing better than Brady, or the Eagles doing anything better than the Patriots on Sunday.
The focus of the Philadelphia Eagles is not on the game itself, it’s about the “drama” right now.  At a desperate time in the season where players and coaches need to be on the same page, it’s a mess, with every indication that it’s only going to fester deeper and deeper.   Even though several players and coaches have spoken publicly this week, it’s not going to change the fact that the team lacks the necessary talent to win games against good opponents and that the coaches are going to be better at doing their jobs.
The Eagles are facing an “elite” opponent, with an offense that has
been crippled with injuries to their top playmakers, but it doesn’t even matter.   Tom Brady is still the quarterback and the offense will continue to be dominant especially against an Eagles defense playing as putrid as they have in recent weeks.
How can anyone believe the Eagles offense will not look as slow and average as it has for the majority of the season?  Chip will once again attempt to fool the Patriots defense with the dozen plays it appears he likes to run.  The predictability will allow for defensive coordinator Matt Patricia to dial up formations that could potentially lead to a high turnover number, a half a dozen sacks and a defensive touchdown.
I envision the Patriots offense looking to test the leaky Eagles run defense early, pounding it inside with LeGarrette Blount, and then using both White and Bolden in the flat off the play-action, testing Alonso and Kendricks at the linebacker position.  The Eagles don’t have a defender who can match up with the 6’7” tight-end Scott Chandler, who should be a steady red-zone threat for Tom Brady.  Yes, the Patriots are banged up on the offensive line, and Brandon LaFell is the number one wide receiver by default, but the Eagles defense is regressing, both against the run and the pass, it’s not all of a sudden going to come together, not against arguably the best quarterback and head coach combination of all time.
On offense for the Eagles, Sam Bradford will be challenged with keeping the Eagles in the game, which is playing mistake free football, no turnovers and minimizing the number of three and outs.  Asking this of a quarterback who has missed the last two games due to injury, and with the question marks of the playmakers, it’s likely to be another outing where Bradford looks like a guy trying to “feel” his way around the NFL, and not act the part of a leader and top level quarterback.
It’s been a long time since I’ve been this down on the Eagles, and it starts with the head coach.  His unwillingness to “listen” and “adapt” to the NFL is unraveling, and he doesn’t sound like a guy open to change.  Combine that with the holes on the Eagles in terms of talent, how they are coached or rather the lack of coaching, any chance of competing with a team like the Patriots is a nightmare of a matchup.
Tom Brady is still angry about the loss to the Broncos last week, and it’s scary to envision what an angry Brady can do compared to the regular competitive Brady.
Patriots 47 Eagles 23

earlier in the season one of you clairvoyants wrote the Eagles’ defense was keeping the games close because they were benefiting from very fortunate turnovers and eventually those numbers would even out. Kaboom you were correct. The well has dried up and with Sanchez the pendulum swung the other way. Sanchez’s first game he was tossing Interceptions the second game he was holding onto the football too long afraid to throw taking sacks.

Are you ready for a 3rd and 7 yards to go running back pass for 3 yards today or perhaps you would like to see a 3rd and 5 yards to go 4 yard TE pass ?

WR Amendola is set to Play
I expect the Pats to Run,Run,Run,Run, Run the Ball right down the Eagles throats and take the will right out of the Defense in a laugher as the Pats Win 29-10 in a Game where the Score is not really indicative of the domination by the Pats Niall phases of the Game from the Offense, Defense, Special Teams to the Coaching.. This is merely a Tune-Up Game for the Pats to get ready for the Playoffs by getting their OL & Power Run Game led by RB’s L Blount, J White & Bolden..

I liked Clemson from the ACC, Ohio State from Big 10, then LSU or Miss State from the SEC and then Stanford from the Pac 12..
I thought Mich State, TCU & Baylor & Alabama would all be right there and did not see an Iowa, UNC or Oklahoma or Notre Dame being as good as they were

Anything is of course s possible but as a -9 point and varying dog ,it’s not likely .What I’ll be curious is Jeffrey’s home town beat down ,followed by a shady dancing and Desean are enough to have him re-write his end of the year memorial. What a mitigated disaster ,if form follows 6-10 ..On any metric ,with the exception of running the table ,justification of a team progressing. Will be an insane sell.We do have depth, however. We have many more questions than answers ..

RB L McCoy took himself out of the Game after a big and went to the locker room for Concussion Protocol likely meaning that he will not suit up next week vs the Eagles .. McCoy has 83 Yards vs the Texans in today’s game

This out of 16 Teams in the NFC and only the Cowboys & 49ers have a worse Conference Record..

A Falcon/Seahawk Win knocks them out of any Wildcard possibilities
The Eagles don’t deserve the Post-Season this Year anyways..
They need to play the young players and finish 4-12 and get the best Draft Position as possible , like their brethren the 76ers, Phils did ..
Philly has become the “City of Tanking It”

Play WR’s Huff, Agholor & TE Trey Burton
Defensively, Play MS2, E Rowe & D Rice

See what you got..

For Fantasy Fans
Check about Picking up Cardinals RB David Johnson if needing a RB as has taken the #1 reps over for the injured Chris Johnson
David Johnson was a 5th Round Draft Pick from Northern Iowa and a Player I liked a lot in last year’s very deep RB Class where Chip Kelly decided to go the veteran, aging and expensive free agent route like the idiot he is..

Blake Bortles sets a Jaguars Franchise Record of 22 Passing TD’s in a Season as he has thrown 4 Today and gas 4 more Games to improve on his Stats..
Jags in another High-Scoring Game versus the Titans 32-28 as Titans Mariota has 3 TD Passes as well..
Jaguars have become a exciting Team to watch with RB Yeldon, Debnard Robinson and young WR’s A Robinson, Hurns & Lee
They continue to build that Defense and get a Pass-Rush, try will be competing for the Playoffs in the AFC in Future Years

Eagles mismanaging players again. First off Eric Rowe rotted on the bench and may be the best CB on the team. You finally bench that stiff Murray and play Sproles and Barner and magically you can run the ball. Trey burton should probably play to. Kiko is starting to get healthy.

Canttakeitanymore, the flip-flop crew vinniedafool and fraudman are stunned and bewildered…
They have declared that Bradford is a bust as a QB, but now…he returns and what do we see? The reality is that Sam Bradford showed great leadership…the team down…14-0 headed towards another blowout…Bradford rallies the team makes a clutch third down pass and then hits Ertz for a touchdown!
3 down and 11 pressure in the pocket…Bradford steps up and delivers a dart that even ‘stone hands’ Cooper couldn’t drop!
Before the game it was Bradford that spoke to the team rallying the troops and again it’s not just talk…Coming back with an injured shoulder…battling the pain and stepping up and making key, clutch plays…just as he did in our last win with the walk off, dagger touchdown
The last three games as he become more comfortable…no interceptions

I agree. Bradford did not cost his team the game. He made plays when they needed to be made. He has improved every week. I still say he isn’t the qb for us moving forward. but he he is clearly better than Sanchez and definitely Foles. Our receivers still suck. Ertz is still overrated. Murray is the wrong back for Chip’s system. Maxwell is still a bust.

Didn’t see 1 Play other than highlights since the Game was not on down here Hopefully NFL Channel Replays the Game this week…
Panthers Win 41-38 in a back and forth crazy game which had 5 lead changes
In the 4th Quarter.. Cam Newton with 5 TD Passes with the winning TD drive and pass to WR J Crotchery with 1 minute to go on a 75 Yard Drive
Cam Newton probably secured his MVP Award Today..

Back to Eagles,
With the Giants losing and blowing a 10 point 2nd Half Lead, has left the Door Wide Open for them to still compete for the NFC East Title which is there only chance to make the Post-Season

Bradford went down the field far enough to get that key first down with that pass to Cooper..

He hung in the pocket with the pass rush closing in on him…and delivered

Big time QB play in a big moment of the game as Brady is bearing down on us…

Of course he checks down…are our wide receivers running free and open?

Hell No…lets face it…our receivers stink

But again…Bradford is making the best out of a bad receiving corp

Notice no turnovers, no interceptions

He comes back…speaks to the team before the game

When they could have fell apart down 14-0..Bradford made key clutch throws and scored a touchdown to bring them back into the game

Leadership, Poise

Sam Bradford is showing that he has what it takes…

Put some talent..some speed, some good receivers around Bradford and we can make some noise!

Even though it is now extremely apparent…replacing Foles with Bradford was the right move.

Bradford made big time, clutch plays that you need from the QB today. His opportunities to throw for more yards was because of the running game and special teams and the defense scoring…but when we needed key third down conversions-Sam Bradford stepped up!!
