Have you ever had the meatloaf from the local diner that was merely “eh?” Well, that’s my feeling with the decision to hire Doug Pederson as the next head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles.
I’m not going to say this was a panic move by owner Jeffrey Lurie; I’ll use the words “comfortable” and easy to control. The Eagles hierarchy, the terrific threesome that wanted to get a head start on the coaching search by firing Chip Kelly prior to week 17; a complete disaster. Chip Kelly was a disappointment; he failed as the head coach. And now, failure once again by those who have final say at making the calculated steps necessary in building a Super Bowl to Philadelphia.
I won’t list my top guys who I wanted as the head coach; I will say Pederson was the very last name on my list. By no means am I an expert on Pederson. I remember him more as a player with the Eagles than anything he has done coaching in the NFL. The issue with Pederson; he is the perfect guy for Howie Roseman to puppet and fits that “former” Philly” guy that Lurie was after. Pederson doesn’t raise an eyebrow for the fan base that knew how important finding the “right” guy was after the mess that Chip left behind.
Pederson has done little as a coach, the Eagles went from a former college coach to a guy who might have played in the NFL, but has a brief and unimpressive coaching resume. There are a number of question marks with the Eagles; most importantly with the decision at quarterback. How confident can anyone be that Pederson will make the call?
Get ready to hear a lot of praise for Andy Reid, words from Lurie and Pederson at the press conference introducing the new head coach to the media. This was not the direction most wanted the Eagles to go in, but it become the feeling that began creeping through, feeling more and more real as the other candidates were being hired by other NFL teams.
With a coaching staff yet to be decided, free agency and the NFL draft, I’m going to do my very best to remain open minded. The Eagles still play in the NFC East, a division that could absolutely be won by any team in 2016.
Jeff, not with 2016 schedule no way, this duo Jeff and Howie don’t know what the hell they are doing and where they are going with this team or franchise. Until the cancer Roseman is cut out from Lurie we will always be an ” almost ” team while our hand full of decent players will get old and stagnant in this debacle. The eagle fans should make a big statement after this in every shape and form. The owner just doesn’t care or get it or both, only priority is keeping Howie happy which I find an egnima. Obvious Howie had a falling out with SMcDermott just like he had and has in the past with many good hires, I’m still bugged we lost Tom Gamble who I felt was going to help get this team in better position to improve than HR.The word is out no one wants to be here because of him we lost out on so many opportunities to get better in past funny how close to 9 guys just get the boot with him here hes a control freak that doesn’t know his ass from a hole in the ground and I am mad as hell he is being allowed to take any magic that the fans envision might or can take place for them away!!! Pay close attention to the KC,Pats game as this may be a prelude to what to expect. I hope Pats don’t destroy chiefs offense if so gonna be long tenure of pederson

Paul I was coaching a hs playoff game and that year we were running a triple option out of the wing tee… It wasn’t really an option because we were telling the QB what to do (give,keep or keep and pitch)… Ran it like 25 times in a row and ‘give’ was the call … On pe year, two yards, loss of one…fans wanted to kill us… Bad calls they said… We called two ‘keep and pitch’ all game … Both were long TD runs… We win 13-6…. The narrative after the game was why didn’t they run it wide more…it worked every time… Stupid people didn’t understand we were setting it up… Understand that if all is perfect every offensive call goes for TD…but the other team is actually playing against you
