Sammy “Sleeves” Bradford: “I Am Committed To My Teammates”

Sammy%22Sleeves%227Sam “Sleeves” Bradford and his teammates are currently on the field at the Nova Care Complex working out.   Here’s a shot of Bradford throwing the football this morning.  Bradford released the following statement through his agent Tom Condon and ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

“I’m excited to be back on the field today with my teammates and coaches.  The business side of football is sometimes a necessary consideration. My attention and efforts are focused on the participation in and preparation for a championship season:  I am committed to my teammates and the Eagles organization for nothing less.”

I will give whomever prepared this statement credit for knowing the Eagles fan base to the point where they included talk of a “Championship”.  If Sam was to lead the Birds to a division title, it would put him in position to get another big contract.

YESSS!!

The drama in philly ends. Go out there and play angry Sam. Show everybody what there gonna be getting in the 2017 season by leading Philly to the postseason with a victory or 2 and secure back that 2nd rounder for our asses. Maybe we resign you, maybe not. Either way its a big win-win for the Eagles and company

Best case scenario is a 2nd, but a 3rd wouldnt be all that awful either.. If that happens then Philly really only gave up 2 draft picks total to move up to get Wentz. Beautiful low risk, high reward move.

Look for Sam to throw 25-30 tds this season being with the same personell in back to back seasons, and with a improved Oline and hopefully defense. This will be the most talented team Sam has been on his whole career. Should be lightyears ahead of last year being another year removed from hhis ACLS and he will be able to play a slowed down, methodical approach where he can make changes at the LOS.

Rooting for Sam this year like crazy, for it is the best thing for the Eagles if he plays out of his mind.

I hope we get a high draft pick, because the browns will be getting it anyway next season.

Sam will shock some people this year. Not really sure why people will be suprised if he plays damn good, but thats the case.

Will finally get a full offseason and training camp to workout and not worry about injuries. He can just go out and play ball and not be babied into playing time like Chip did with him last year. Not saying Chip did the wrong thing babying him however, its gonna be nice to see sam come out healthy,, and without a limp and just learn the system and play.

Remember he played in a very similar offense is STL. There is gonna be some learning, but its not like it will be completely foreign to him. Chase will be able to provide some help to Sam and Wentz, which is why he was signed.

Excited to see Nelson, Ertz and Jordan together for year 2 and with the same qb for once.

Randle is also a big upgrade over Cooper and is very young.

I don’t see it. I think he’ll be hurt or benched by week 9. He may have played in a similar offense in STL, but he didn’t play particularly well in STL.

I heard on the radio yesterday something along the lines that there have been 20 quarterbacks taken in the first round of the NFL draft since Sam was taken first. Sam’s statistics put him either 19th or 20th on this list in every offensive category. Many of the guys on this list were taken by bad teams with high picks, just like Bradford.
The guy stinks.

Yeah E-Mobney did the stat show that he played vs the Cardinals, 49ers and Seattles defenses 2 times a year? Lol I gurantee his “stats” would look a lot better if he played in the NFC East his whole career, thus the career highs last year. . Lets stick Brady Luck and Manning in that division I guarantee them “stats” wouldn’t look the same. Lets stick Andy Daltons candy ass arm in the NFC West I guarantee he isn’t putting up them numbers. Amazing how that works.

His first couple seasons the NFC West was the worst in the NFL. He was injured after that. And his wonderful season last year was the worst of any QB under Kelly. In fact, he got Kelly fired.

He is a second rate QB – that’s why we drafted a replacement for him – that’s why the Rams unloaded him….

Well there’s that, in other news I was looking at a couple wideouts we got udfa wise and I like hunter sharp and Marcus Johnson, both speed guys with ability to make people miss, especially sharp, who is built like a running back, one problem they don’t hand catch and cradle too much, but I think one of them makes the team, and another guy to watch is myke taverras lb, the guy plays with that dawkins in him, straight wrecking ball and will kill it on special teams off the back and be a good bu lb to the olbs

Beautifully said Dag.

Where have u been with that argument?

People forget that Brady and Manning have feasted off weak divisions 95 percent of their career.

What if Andrew luck took over that Rams team with those divisions? Probably be labeled As a bust nowadays.

Some call that statement an “excuse”. Not really sure why?

Sam Bradford can go out and beat the Giants and Cowboys this season, especially how bad there defenses are going to be. The Giants spent 200mill in free agency with 0 probowlers between them.

Redskins could be tough, but even they aren’t dominate. I expect us to finally end the losing streak this season to Washington, for it is only a matter of time.
They look good on paper, but we’re gonna see if it comes together. I think Captain Beat Up on Shitty teams will come back to earth.

He didn’t play all that special in the 2nd loss to Washington this season, even though he stats say otherwise.

We literally had 5 dropped picks that game

Mike Tirico leaves Espn Monday Night football for NBC. Does that mean Al Michaels is no longer the voice of Sunday Night Football? Sean McDonough replaces Tirico on Monday Night Football. Additionally Espn released Chris Carter and Ray Lewis while hiring recently retired NFL players Charles Woodson & Matt Hasselbeck along with Randy Moss. Can’t believe Mike Ditka survived.

Mike Tirico will initially handle being the Main Host of many NBC Sporting Event like the upcoming Summer Olympics basically replacing the aging Bob Costas and eventually Al Michaels who still has a few years left… I read somewhere that Tirico signed a 10 Year Deal and will be handling the big Sport Events from Olympics and the run up events ,Golf, Tennis, Horse Racing, Football, maybe Notre Dame Games, etc, etc
Randy Moss is excellent and knows a lot more about the Game itself, it’s Players & Coach’s than probably what the average Fan thinks… I enjoy watching, listening to Randy Moss..
Chris Carter, Keyshawn Johnson & Mike Ditka are all terrible and add nothing to their Sunday morning Shows… Ray Lewis I thought was ok but not polished enough and struggled with doing analysis quickly amd on point..

I like Ryan Clark, he was a good hire by ESPN last season.
Suzy Kolber, Trent Dilfer and Steve Young plus who ? It can’t be Hasselbeck it has to be either Moss or Woodson probably Woodson with Moss going on Berman’s crew. Where Hasselbeck goes I don’t know.

Think dilfer is out to man. I got no clue wtf ESPN is doing but acting like fools. Lewis and dilfer were both quality. Not sure how I feel about carteR. ESPN dumped a lot of quality people over the past few months. Maybe they should go back to highlights instead of all these muppet talking heads and 30 for 30s and ditch ESPN 2,4 , 8 and deportes instead of canning the talent

Ryan Clark is very good, tells it like it is without beating topics over the head like Steve Young & Trent Dilfer sometimes do..
Chris Carter is too Negative, Keyshawn Johnson is another negative whiner who adds little to any discussion, I can’t stand to listen to either of them..
I like Ray Lewis but he has to be paired with the right crew..
Brian Dawkins does an excellent job and would like to see him in a bigger role..

I don’t want to wait 3 quarters of preseason football through both Bradford and Daniel_ to see Wentz play. Eagles are becoming a chore to watch now.( watching the grass grew might be as excited) Wentz will be throwing to people I never heard of or care to know in the 4th quarter.

Even if Sammy plays respectable next yr what team is gonna want him outside of maybe the bears I just don’t see a landing spot for Bradford…. every team that needed a qb got one this yr Eagles, jets,Denver all got one Houston got Brock he doesn’t want to play for chip in s.f. so unless rivers or eli has a career ending injury this yr only possible place for him to land is Chicago but if the bears have a high draft pick why would you want Bradford when you draft your own guy… also the Browns don’t want him either

He might be with the Eagles again in 2017 if he wins big this season.

Maybe having a spark under his ass is what Sam has needed for the last six years. Wentz will stay on the bench if Bradford throws for 4000 yards, 30 TDs 10 INTs, and takes us to the NFC division championship, or something close. The Eagles would LOVE to have that problem…

If not, Sam will be welcome in Washington, where reality always seems to bite quarterbacks on the ass after a good season….

Gloomy: With the aging of the cream of the QB crop (Brady, Manning, Romo, Bree’s, etc), there are a number of teams who won’t have a shot at the top QB prospects in future drafts (given their drafting positions). While they may draft 2nd or 3rd tier prospects, these are teams who don’t want to impload while waiting for a kid to develop. In other words, there will be a lot of team who will overpay for Bradford IF HE CAN STAY HEALTHY and have a solid year. That also explains why the Eagles went after Wentz so hard.

Chiefs Drafted QB Kevin Hogan of Stanford who they are very High on..

For 2017 – The Bears, Bills could be landing spots as their Coaches will be under the Hot Seat to make it to the Post-Season and both of them (Rex Ryan and John Fox) are not very likely to get too many more chances as they themselves are getting older and both Coach’s don’t like playing Young QB’s so a Healthy Sam Bradford could be enticing to them in their Situations if Cutler and Tyrod Taylor stink this Season or have major injury

Browns,Jets,Broncos,Texans all Addressed their Long-Term QB

Would Cardinals HC Bruce Arians prefer a Sam Bradford over Drew Stanton, to take over for Carson Palmer, probably not ..

Would Saints HC Sean Payton prefer Sam Bradford over Last years Draft Pick of Garrett Grayson who Payton is High On… Probably Not…

Another Lackluster Season from Sam Bradford will relegate him to a Back-Up Status in the eyes of most GM’s/Coach’s around the NFL..

Remember that ‘post draft’ everyone is high on everyone… they don’t all work out— 15 QB’s taken in this draft– IF 3 are solid/above ave starters that will be very good, 8 will be serviceable backups and the others will be matt barkley… so there is always a need for a proven starter– bradfords problem is up until now he isn’t proven… thats why we want him to play his way into status!

You are right on with that post, Even at #2 overall the fans would be wise to wait 2 or 3 years before they get too happy. And usually when a team gives the house away for a #2 or 3 draft, It does not work too well for the team that gave away the house. The skins are just getting over the deal for R.G. 111. But its very diffucult to tell a desperate fan base much of anything,Even the last player the Eagles took in the Philly draft is being touted as a steal by the Philly newspapers.,At least we dont have to read cooper storys or Mcoy stories that he was on D.L. in the philly gayborhoods as some had infered..This is much better reading and info.

2016 is going to be a Re-build Season For the Eagles that will be a Work in Progress with New Coach’s, New Schemes and New Players..
The Eagles Top Pick in the 2016 Draft won’t see the Field for a Season or two
The Eagles had no 2nd Rounder and Traded a 3rd and 4th Rounder in 2016 Draft to move up for their Future QB, so that’s why we see all these 1 Year Contracts to WR’s Randle, Givens, OL Wisnewski, DB’s Brooks, 2 Year Del with McKelvin… The Doug Pederson/Roseman.2 Era will be defined by how quickly and well QB Carson Wentz Plays… None of us will really know until 2018 or so… At least the Eagles have a Vision and Plan and Chip Kellys biggest Failure as Eagles HC/GM was never addressing the Future QB Situation… Here Pederson/Roseman.2 are addressing it in Year #1 which still will take time, but they are not banking on re-treads or other Teams failures to all of a sudden become an elite Player as an Eagle…

Phils win another for 3 wins in a row. (19-14 record). I keep waiting for the roof to fall in. They hired every Venezuelan with talent the league has and it is working. Phils weaknes is in the Outfield. The phils do have Outfield young prospects in their low twenty age ( Quinn, Williams) and some OF potential on DL ( Altherr , Ashe)in mid twenties. What they don’t have is left hand pitching. All their arms are righties ( Nola, Velasquez, Eickhoff, Thompson, Appel, Eflin, Kilome, Lively). I think they use the number one pick on a left handed pitcher. (Jason Groome the local high school kid). AJ Puk is not playing well enough to warrant the first overall selection who was the highest rated LHP in college.

On average only about 30 out of 250+ drafted players contribute in any meaningful way. In the long run if a team has 3 players contributing after 3 years it was a very good draft. To think teams drafting a QB (especially after round 1) has addressed their long term QB issues (think Hogan) is naive. If Bradford performs like he did at the end of last season and stays healthy (2 big IFs), then there will be a good market for Bradford next off-season.

” If Bradford performs like he did at the end of last season ”

Could you define this please. Could you explain what you mean here?

Are you talking about the last 3 games when he threw 300+ each game??

When he went 1-2, 5tds and 3 ints….and about 700 of his 900 yards came either in the 2nd halfs of blowout losses or a meaningless final game where the Giants weren’t trying.

I think its unbelievable that people are still hanging on to this ridiculous “end of year” myth.

I hope Sammy plays the best football of his career this coming fall. Hope the Eagles can parlay that into a second or tird round pick the following draft…..but I’m not holding my breath, nor hanging my hat on the illusion that was the “end of the year” last season.

Here is an interesting thought.

Around the league, people are lauding the hiring of Douglas and Weidl. Great “football paople” and all that. News that Douglas had offers from multiple other teams but the Bears refused, eventually having to acquies because of the demand. Despite offers, Douglas came to the Eagles.

Those sought after guys came to the Eagles after the drafting of Wentz, knowing he’s going to be the future Qb, and knowing the Eagles are missing a first round pick next year and a 3rd in 2018.

I think that says a lot. They must also think highly of Wentz and are not overly concerned with the missing picks.

Right now it’s the Redskins, Cowboys,Giants & then Eagles as the “Conventional Wisdom” around the NFL goes..

Eagles have a lot of unknown ? Starting Summer Camp with a New Coaching Staff, Schemes, and QB whose Competitiveness and Leadership are under Question..
Giants have a New HC in Ben McAdoo, but he retains almost most of Coughlin’s Staff so not much is going to chance Scheme Wise..
If Romo Stays Healthy, then the Cowboys have the Best/Most Dynamic Offense in the NFC East, though their D/Line will struggle in stopping anyone
The Redskins are the most Balanced Team on Paper going into the Summer and had another nice Off-Season but is Kirk Cousins the Real Deal or will he go back to his up and down play.. Against the Eagles, Cousins is a Pro-Bowler, against Top Defenses, not so much..

changing coaching staff and scheme sometimes is the best thing for an NFL team and they don’t miss a beat– look at Chips radical new scheme and subpar coaching staff making it to the playoffs– AR comes into the worst team in football, changes scheme and staff and makes the playoffs– you are making something out of nothing.

I am not making something out of nothing HAC, there will be an adjustment period with these new Coach’s and Schemes.. Do Note that Pederson has No Head Coaching Experience starting out, unless you count his High School Football Coaching Experience..
Players Adjust to whatever Schemes they need to for that’s what great Athletes and Competitors do so its not that big of a deal for the Players as it happens quite often anymore as Coach’s come and Go at the NFL LEvel, College Level, etc,etc so Players are used to chance ..The key is what are the Schemes and New Techniques are and can they succeed at the NFL Level… With Pederson’s/Reich’s experience around the NFL for a Long Time and with Successful Coach’s (AR & Marv Levy) and around Good Teams should bode well that they will install some sound, productive systems… but lets see the Eagles Offense this Summer and the 1st half of the NFL Season versus NFL Defense’s and other Paid Coach’s & Players..

Having a Solid and Strong Running Game will be critical for the 2016 Eagles Offense to sustain any type of Success… I am still on the Fence with the Current Eagles RB Corp in terms of Durability, Ball Security and Playmaking ability (Outside of Darren Sproles)
If Bradford or any other Eagle QB has to Drop back 35 + Times a Game to Pass the Ball, then the Eagles Offense will be in Trouble in Terms of Negative Plays and Turnovers..

even teams with established staffs lay an egg on occassion…The eagles will be fine- Pederson will be a solid coach- given the right players and qb he could go far-

biggest thing with Pederson is the Unknown…
With Kelly we all knew he was about Pace,Pace, Pace and Tempo and inheriting an Eagles Team with Vick,McCoy, D-Jax,Maclin and Athletic OL in Kelce,Peters it was no real surprise to envision and expect their early on Success Offensively..
Pederson will have to build a more methodical, physical, ball-control Offense, or at least I hope he does.. It may not be as exciting and will lack in big plays, but it should win it’s share of Ballgames if executed well

once it was figured out chip kelly ran the most boring offense in nfl history– watching the eagles the last year and a half (i forgot you don’t watch the games) was a snooze fest… paint drying, grass growing were better spectator sports– the man did not allow a professional qb to call an audible– that just freaks me out– the more i think about that the more it steams me…

unfortunately you’ll have to hit the fast forward button on the DVR to skip through the boring wasteful pip squeak little fella about the size of a Roseman or Lurie quarterbacking the 2nd and 3rd quarter in the preseason games by the name of Chase Daniel_. Wentz will be the big guy playing with nobodies in the 4th quarter again not adjusting to elevated competition because the nobodies are only slightly better than the FCS crap he just left.

E0S, it’s not that I am anxious to see Carson play immediately. I know the plan to groom him and I’m on board with it. I can’t wait to see him once the grooming process is over. I am happy that we have the future franchise QB in the fold…I look forward to the future now and am rejuvenated as an Eagles fan. Couldn’t say I was excited as an Eagles fan the last couple of years.

The plan is to train Chase Daniel on NFL QB play first, since he has hardly any NFL experience ( 77 total NFL passes) , so that Chase Daniel can train Carson Wentz. That kind of Strategic Thinking is priceless.

preseason last year espn had the playoff bound skins at 32– worst in the league, Dallas 6, baltimore 8 (not in playoffs)– texans 20…
means zero…less than zero actually.

Cowboys – Tony Romo (Missed 12 Games) and Ravens – Joe Flacco (Missed 6 Games) Take any Playoff-Caliber Team Starting QB away for 6-8-10-12 Weeks and those Teams will end up struggling…

Redskins moved up the NFC East ladder with more of the Cowboys,Giants, Eagles all under-performing … Texans ended up Winning the AFC South since Colts QB Andrew Luck missed 9 Games and really was not Healthy all Season long…

Each Year there will be 2-3 Teams negatively impacted by Major Injuries or Simply Under-Perform, have Stale Coach’s,etc, etc
Each Year there will be 2-3 Teams that Over-achieve, come out of nowhere,
have Young Players Step up to become household names and stars of the NFL…

Which Teams will it be in 2016

NFC –
Watch for Bears to make a run for a Wild Card Spot in the competitive NFC North (John Fox Builds Winners no matter where he goes)
Cowboys will Rebound with a healthy Romo, Rookie Dynamic RB in Elliot and a Rejuvenated WR in Dez Bryant to compete in the open NFC East
They will Give up Points but will Score a bunch too… I see many 38-35 Type of Games for them this Season

Vikings are poised to take that next Step if QB Tedy Bridgewater is ready to step up and be more Productive and a bigger Playmaker than what he has shown so far as the kid gloves are now off for Year #3 for him to shine

The Packers, Panthers,Cardinals & Seahawks are look to be Solid, Playoff Teams with Good Off-Seasons, Good Coaching Staffs and Drafts with not many Holes to Fill but any Injuries to QB’s or Key Players for them and it can change

Early OTA prediction —
Eagle Linebacker Travis Long gets hurt in training camp for the year.

I haven’t yet predicted who will miss action first Ryan Matthews or Sam Bradford but fairly certain both will miss multiple regular season games.

I’m excited that it will be the GB game I’ll be coming down for. I think that’s perfect timing as there are 2 possibilities.

1 – ‘Ole Sleeves will be playing the best foorball of his career, Eagles will be above .500 and contending for a playoff spot on MNF against the Pack.

2 – ‘Ole Sleves will play like he always has, and will have missed a bit due to injury. Eagles will be 4-6 (or something simmilar) and I’ll get to see the 1st or second of the Eagles Future QB.

Can’t lose!

Half the Eagles might not be alive for that Packers’ game. Head Coach Pederson is going to have to peel them off of Seattle’s turf from the previous week steam rollers named Michael Bennett and Cam Chancellor.
I usually don’t go to the night games like this Packer game but if this is Wentz’s first home game I’m going. I’ll probably go to all the games if Wentz is QBing even the Christmas Week NYGiant night game. The only game I promised to a family member is the Steeler Eagle game to some Pennsylvania relatives who want to see their Steelers play live. But if Wentz is starting I’m going.

So… with all the silly talk about not resigning him and trading him and bla bla bla… we are right where we knew they would be…. With a starting QB named Sam, a backup being paid a ton and a rook who will take over in the future. The eagles are underdogs (good) and are primed to make some noise this year. Lets get it!!

Ouch! ESPN had a stat on Sports Center where the Eagles have the 2 highest paid backup QBs in all of NFL using guarantee dollar figures. Wentz $26, Daniel $13 million, followed by $8 million for EJ Manual in 3rd place. Ridiculous, Howie looks like a fool.

It would’ve looked a lot more sane ,had Sam been salt for picks at the draft .But..SAMs agent made certain that plan blew up…with his miscalculated trade demands and obviously, tried to trade a used car with bald tires …it’s still a possibility with injuries arising ,and or Sam playing well enough to rehabilitate his 2017 value …it wasn’t the plan to have the 3 …

Howard Eskin reported that the eagles had a deal in place with San Diego for pick #3 when they made the Maxwell Kiko and #13th pick trade. Cleveland muscled San Diego out when Titans jumped up to number 1. Bradford was signed before free agency, the deal to move up to #3 for a QB was on the table before Chase Daniel signed his FA contract. The Eagles could have sent Chase away but didn’t.

It’s a chess match ,and a dangerous game of chicken at that ..the Eagles obviously, Feared that the two spot was needed to insure getting Wentz and or Goff ..they feared the jets and Cowboys jumping up I’d assume ..lets see how camp starts out and await, the unforeseen injuries at the QB position ..lets just hope Sam stays upright .

I ask for the hundredth time, who did the Eagles not get because of their QB situation? Further, we all know that shiny toy FA in football aren’t necessarily a good thing.
It will play itself out…. It’s only May, it is not your money, they’ve extended all their young guys, gotten a couple strategic FA and will get cox done…. What’s the problem?
