Carson Wentz Must Learn To Protect Himself

CarsonWentz11I gave Carson Wentz a B grade for his play against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in his first NFL action.  He got a great reaction from the fans, when he went into the game late in the second quarter.  The youngster showed his potential, but also let us know that he’s still has plenty to learn.

I was impressed by the way he recognized the Nickel blitz off of the slot receiver and threw the ball to the hot receiver.

He’s got to do a better job of getting on top of the football, so it doesn’t sail on him.  Many times sailing passes get picked off, like the one he threw near the end zone, which cost the Birds a scoring opportunity.  He missed a number of receivers because the passes sailed on him, but this is correctable.

There were numerous positives.  For instance, he didn’t panic after a bad snap.  He picked up the football and threw it away in order to avoid a turnover, which showed great poise for a rookie.

A few times the offensive line turned the pass rushers loose, but rather than panic, Wentz scrambled to his right to run one time before throwing the ball downfield and he tucked the ball under his arm and ran for good yardage on the other before sliding.

The youngster has good speed and great size for a quarterback, but he must learn that staying healthy is one of his jobs.  He can’t make the mistake of trying to jump over defenders.  He should be sliding rather than taking on defenders.  Wentz won’t be able to stay healthy if he doesn’t make a point to slide rather trying to jump over or take on defenders.

One of the most important jobs of a NFL quarterback is to stay healthy.  He should look at some footage of Seattle’s Russell Wilson, who does a great job of uses his speed when the opportunity presents itself, but he gets on the ground when tacklers get near him, so he stays healthy for the next game.

Doug Pederson has got to discourage Wentz from trying to leap over tacklers or take them on in any manner.  NFL defenders will pound him and eventually hurt him, if he continues to take them on.  The youngster got hurt in his senior season at North Dakota State and he’ll get hurt again if he doesn’t learn to avoid taking on defenders.

Z, I don’t think they would get much for Lane, he’s not reliable..who would take a chance on him.

I think you bring him back next year, but, they have to prepare and look at drafting two tackles.

They are trying Gordon Dillon at RT, maybe he can play there..he was a former TE at LSU, maybe he can be the next Jason Peters… we’ll see.

Johnson’s guarantees go away if suspended so that is moot.
In 4 years Gordon’s team has won 19 games total average of less than 5 per
In Johnson’s 3 years his team has won 27….9 per
I understand it’s a team game but…..

Fair and balanced assessment of the rookies first live NFL action GCobb. I was happy that he demonstrated the skill and understanding of when and how to slide. Haven’t seen that from an Eagle QB in a long time. Wentz stated that he learned from that flip not to try and take on defenders. Hopefully he won’t do that again..this is the NFL…not college 1 AA competition.

I was watching Eric Rowe. He’s not a CB, he’s a safety. Rowe’s hips are to stiff, he can’t move with enough fluidity to flip his hips, shuffle his feet-turn and stay with WR’s who are better athletes. Rowe does not have the athleticism to stay with receivers consistently. He should be moved to safety.

I was not on board with Chip drafting Eric Rowe, I did not like him coming out of college, especially as a corner. Play him at safety, he will be better at that position.

According to report on 97.5 via Matt Lomardo, Carson Wentz went for a CT scan..scan revealed a hairline rib fracture. Probably from that pop he took by that d lineman that crumpled him.

If he was a starter and this was the regular season they would just shoot him up and give him a Kevlar rib protector vest…flak jacket and put him in there like they did with McNabb and Vick.

I like McCalister, he’s got to put some weight on though. I was disappointed by what I saw from Bunche Thursday night.

I want to see WR Marcus Johnson get a lot of reps against the Steelers.

Give the kid a chance…jeez…we have only had one pre-season game and already people are bashing Agholor…its way too early to write him off.
As for Carson Wentz, Pederson said on CSN Philly:
“We decided to limit him throughout the remainder of practice and, as a precaution, sent him for a CT scan after practice. The scan revealed a hairline fracture in his ribs. We do not know an exact timetable for his return, but we hope to have him back before the end of the preseason.”

Before the end of preseason??? The kid needs to get one of those flak jackets and get back out there…you cant have him missing valuable time and games…he needs the work!
The kid won’t learn the rigors of protecting himself, getting his passes down, getting more accuracy by sitting on the bench…get him ready and get him back out there!

Ah this is just a announcement to cover their asses and shut the “Wentz now!!” Crew down a bit.

Eagles now can keep the idiot portion (Kooltwit) of the fan base at bay for a few weeks with statements like….”he wasn’t able to play in PS so he hasn’t had enough reps to start yet…..”

Makes sense.

Also helps to protect Sammy Sevens pathetically fragile ego.
He was and will be clearly bothered by the “we want Wentz” chants, and this should keep those at bay until at least week 2 or 3. Give the man a little peace,.

Time to start looking at coach Stoutland. WTF is up with his offensive line again? Looks like they were unprepared and clueless again. I don’t want to hear they are no good I watch every other teams second unit and its hard for me to believe their second teamers are so much better than ours. Stoutlands units didn’t even block anyone just let them run free. I haven’t been impressed with his olines since he has got here. Shady made plays despite the poor blocking with Houdini like moves in the backfield.. I don’t care what he did at Alabama his olines in the NFL are very suspect.

I agree 100% about OL Stoudtland.. What he did 4 Years ago with Superior Talent, tons of Depth in a very basic Offensive System at Alabama (Befor Lane Kiffin arrived) is irrelevant.. Each year with the Eagles, they have taken a step back along the OL.. The Young OL (Tobin, Gardner,Kelly, Bunche, etc, have never really improved)
This is a prove it Year for Stoudtlandas I see him being replaced by Eugene Chung come 2017 unless they improve this Season

I gave Carson Wentz a C+…good plays, good poise…good mobility but with some really bad plays, high throws that gets receivers killed, bad turnover in the endzone.

But the kid down in Dallas- Dak Prescott-looked a whole lot better!

I gave that kid an A+ in his debut!

He looked poised, sound in the pocket…dropping dimes…beautiful passes..he showed mobility, made good reads, got rid of the ball

He made a back shoulder throw to a well-covered Dez Bryant that many vet QB’s dont make.

He stepped right in and went 6-7 with accurate on the money passes…no rookie jitters or over-excitement..

The “Let Wentz sit” crew for some reason have developed a whole lot of confidence in Pederson and his Coaching Staff’s ability to develop Quarterbacks. If these coaches are so good why does the fourth round kid down in Dallas looked better than our franchise QB that we gave up picks to move up and get with the second pick?

Prescott looked better than Goff and Wentz!

I know…its still very early…but it sure makes you wonder!!!

Lol

Throws a jumb ball on the sidelines and Bryant comes down with it.

Throws jump ball #2 that Bryant comes down with.

Vs a 3 man rush with all day throws a nice deep ball for a TD.

Lol

You are such an idiot. Do u have any understanding how NFL preseason works??

Do,u understand how different coaches approach preseason???

Do u realize the Eagles were facing a TB team with a new coach trying to establish a culture and blitzing 5 and 6 players constantly?

Do u realize the Boys were playing Fisher who over the past 4 or 5 years has treated PS games like a glorified scrimmage, and just runs a base D with nothing interesting or confusing.

Did u see Prescott on his scrambles tuck the ball and take off running while he was still in the pocket,

Lol…u are an idiot.

That being said….u are consistent. You LOVE your “one read and run” Qbs that always fail long term.

Good for Prescott winning a quarter in the PS by staring at one WR and tossing jump balls to Dez Bryant while facing no pressure.

We’ll see how that works out long term….

Till then go buy yourself a Dak Prescott Jersey and post a new Avatar about your new favourite “one read and run” flash in the pan that u seem to love so much.

Dak Prescottt played very well..you gotta give credit where credit is do…regardless of the circumstances he still had to make the plays and passes called.

Still prefer Wentz though..

Dallas wanted to draft Paxton Lynch and was trying to move back up into the first round to get him but the Broncos jumped back into the 1st to take Lynch..Dak was drafted in the 4th round for a reason which will be revealed in future play.

Still… Dak looked good tonight…can’t deny that!

It didn’t take long for Vinniedafoolass to hit his stride of pure stupidity and blantant hypocrisy

When it’s the guy he likes…’great pass’..not afraid to chuck it down field

When its a guy he doesn’t like…he threw up a “jump ball”

You are a complete ass, Vinnie

If Carson Wentz had played as well as Dak Prescott, the whole city would be demanding that he start.

Stop with the bullcrap excuses…give Dak credit…he didn’t throw any interceptions, he made the plays, he threw accurate, passes. He didn’t miss wide open receivers, throw behind receivers when the ball should have been out front, throw those high kill shot passes that gets receivers killed…Dak Prescott was poised in the pocket, showed good movement, and every single pass he threw was where the pass was supposed to be…and he did this against 1st teamers…not the third string!

Wentz didn’t playing as well as Dak Prescott played..and its not even close!

One guy looked like he was NFL ready…the other guy everyone is saying…”he’s not ready”

Fool !!

Dak threw an accurate back-shoulder pass to Dez Bryant who was covered like a blanket on the play, and yet there was no way the CB could have made a play on the ball!

You beat me to it. Now he’s hitched his wagon to Dak Prescott. How long are we going to have to listen to “Dak Prescott! Dak Prescott!!!! DAK PRESSSSSSSSCOTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

Probably about a month. Wonderful reading his posts though, which are word for word plagiarisms of what the talking heads on NFL network were dithering on about about Prescott.

Firstly Kooltwit…before you pretend to lecture about things like “back shoulder throws” could you please understand what a back shoulder throw is.

Dez Bryant was running down the left sideline. A “Back shoulder throw” would have been placed between his left shoulder and the sideline. Bryant would have turned left and caught it. That is not what happened on his td. The ball was thrown inside and Bryant turned right jumping across the face of the CB, jumping and making a great catch. It was a jump ball plain and simple. One that would not have worked had the Rams not been playing pure vanilla one-on-one coverage.

Secondly, I guarantee you NFL coaches would be more impressed with Wentz’s 1st and 5th throws the other day, the first to Agholor with a Blitzer in his face, the second another strike to Ertz, again as an unblocked blitzer was right in his face and hitting him just after release then they would be about Prescott staing at one WR with all the time in the world throwing a jump ball to Bryant.

Thirdly, when you see a QB TUCK THE BALL into his elbow, WHILE IN THE POCKET, and with barely any pressure you must not be impressed by “mobility” you need to realize that is a QB who is failing in the NFL. A QB needs to maneuver in the pocket and find his other reads, not just tuck and run at the first whispering of trouble.

Good God, who was Wentz’s centre the other day? Some FA rookie nobody from the University of….wait for it….Maine. Had Prescott had that turnstile flipping snaps early or into his feet you would have seen nothing from him other than this:

Scramble
Scramble
Scramble
Scramble
Scramble
Scramble
Scramble
Scramble
Scramble

He got to sit in a clean pocket facing bland straight ahead 3 and 4 man rushes and all he did was lock on to one WR, toss jump balls, and tuck and run.

Enjoy the guy’s quarter of glory. Go buy a jersey and switch your avatar….but you better do it quickly…..

But hey, 32 NFL GMS were wrong about Prescott, and you, after watching 3 NFL.com highlights are here extolling his virtures.

If you’re an Eagles fan you have to be happy with what you saw from Wentz. If you have watched this game for awhile you can recognize talent when you see it, and there’s no question that Wentz has more talent than any other QB we watched on Thursday.

If you want to tell yourself that the rookie in Dallas is better than the rookie in Philadelphia based on a dozen pre-season plays that’s great.

I have been around long enough and watched enough football to be happy with what Wentz showed.

Wentz has talent…never said that he didn’t have “talent”

A lot of QB’s have talent…including that kid down in Dallas that they got in the 4th round without giving up draft picks to move up!

There have been plenty of talented QB’s who have been busts!

The question is can the current Coaching staff develop that talent by sitting the kid on the bench for a year.?

Why should we be so confident in this Coaching Staff to do that?

They have already showed questionable judgement in playing Wentz who so much is invested in…behind a bunch of offensive lineman who probably wont make the team!!!

The issue is NOT is Dak Prescott better or more talented than Carson Wentz…he may or may not be a better QB…but which of the QB’s looked more ready to play in the NFL…its very clear that Dak Prescott looked as if he had been better coached, better prepared to play in the NFL!!

No question about that at all..did Carson Wentz do some good things…Sure!…but he also looked like a guy who is not ready for prime time at all!!

How that talent is supposed to be developed by sitting on the bench watching.

The Kid only has 650 throws in his career in college…he didn’t play enough

Is he smart, big, strong, mobile, with a good arm-“talented”…yeah…and so was Tim Couch, Akili Smith, David Carr and plenty of other QB’s that have not made it in the league.

Tim Couch was a temperamental hot head who did not work at his craft in the film room..he just did not have the mental acuity or work ethic to work at his craft.

Akili Smith was a spread qb…he just was not prepared enough in college to play in a traditional under center
offense..I don’t think he could process defenses quick enough…one read and he took off.

David Carr was shell shocked…lost his heart.

Wentz exhibits the work ethic by all reports..is mentally sharp and quickly processes information..can consume large amounts of info quickly.

Obviously athletic and talented..can make all the throwa..all the makings of a franchise qb..worth the risk. That’s why they went to get their Carson Wentz!

I know I don’t have to remind you how Nick Foles out-played most of the QBs in the league for 10 games, until the bottom fell out.

Hey did you see Trevone Boykin lead the Seahawks to victory last night with a TD pass in the fourth quarter. He looked much more NFL ready then that Russell Wilson, who threw a pick in the red zone.

NFL ALERT NFL ALERT

Dak Prescott, behind a starting and dominant oline, under absolutely no pressure, throwing to one of the best wide Wrs in the league, against a completely vanilly Rams D who lost 2 secondary starters over last year, and in a completely meaningless 1st preseason game completed one ” shoulder throw” that was described by one nitwit as a throw ” that many vet QB’s dont make.”

He then uses this one singular event to exclaim that 32 NFL GMs are idiots for passing on the soon to be GOAT QB – Dak Prescott.

This singular event will also prove that soon to be GOAT QB Dak Prescott will be 1000x better than Carson Wentz who for some reason didn’t do as well in his pre-season debut against constant 5 and 6 man blitzes, with some nobody from Maine snapping the ball through his legs, and with no one anyone has ever heard of before trying and failing to catch the ball all second half.

When its the guy that you dont like the offensive line, the receivers, and nothing else matters…its all the QB.

But when its a guy that you like..then all of these other ‘factors’ are keyed in…you had excuse after excuse for the guy we all now know was an absolute bust, a bum…your main man…your man crush..the failed Nick Foles! You had him as the Eagles Franchise QB to lead us to a Super Bowl

We all see how that worked out.

But when your hypocrite ass dont like a guy…none of those factors come into play…you had absolutely nothing to say about the weak receivers, poor offensive line play with Bradford…now…”presto” its such a consideration!

Bullshit and you know it Vinniedafoolass!

We can assess the progress the Coaching Staffs are having in developing the QB’s, when we look at Dak Prescott and Carson Wentz now.

Fool ass Vinny, I’m not saying either one of these QB’s will be NFL quality starters. Much less franchise QB’s but looking at BOTH QB’s in pre-season action, against vanilla defenses when both QB’s had time in the pocket to deliver the passes…one QB was inaccurate, high, and threw a costly pick which the other QB was spot on accurate, no high passes, no jitters, and no turnovers.

Dak Prescott a fourth rounder looked just as poised, threw better passes, than our franchise, No#2 pick in draft, the guy we gave up valuable resources to get-Carson Wentz.

Dumb ass its one game, I did not say that Dak is better than Carson Wentz.

But stop with the bullshit excuses about receivers and the offensive line…look at the throws that both QB’s made when they had time in the pocket!

One guy was consistent and accurate…the other was inconsistent and inaccurate!

You can’t make this shit up!!

Koolidiot: ” I did not say that Dak is better than Carson Wentz.”

On New Hero Dak Prescott:
“He looked poised”
” sound in the pocket…”
“dropping dimes…”
“beautiful passes..”
“he showed mobility,”
“made good reads”,
“got rid of the ball”
“made a back shoulder throw to a well-covered Dez Bryant that many vet QB’s dont make.” (that one still makes me laugh)
“and every single pass he threw was where the pass was supposed to be consistent and accurate” (Every single pass!!!!!”

Holy fuck it’ll take an entire bottle of javex to clean up all the jizz you deposited on your keyboard after ejaculating a stream of praise on your new hero.

And on Wentz??
“some really bad plays”
“, high throws that gets receivers killed” (did this even happen?)
“bad turnover in the endzone”
“inconsistent and inaccurate!”
“threw a costly pick”

But “I did not say Dak was better than Wentz!!!!”

No all you did was drool over your new hero while your spiderman undies got mighty tight from the moment Prescott stepped on the field. You sound like a 13 year old girl when it comes to Prescott while at the same time it was nothing but a bevy of criticisms for the guy you hate…a guy who hasn’t even played a game…….and a guy who is the new hopefull QB of the team you say you like – but don’t. You hate him.

I love it.

“I didn’t say it!!!”

After saying exactly that 50x.

Putz…you were a Mike Vick fan who became an Eagles “fan” when they signed your old hero.

You are a player fan. Not a team fan.

You can’t make this shit up!

And the biggest joke of all….the one that shows complete and utter Bias……

” both QB’s had time in the pocket ”

LOL. What the fuck did u watch?

You cannot make this shit up!

Go buy yourself a Dak Prescott jersey and post your new hero as your Avatar you completely pretender fan.

CTFU!!!!

Vinniedafoolass is back at it again…

Complete with his homo-fascination about ‘jizz’ and a bunch of other stuff

Vinniedafoolass is back to babbling incoherent nonsense…

Fool Ass

You abandoned the team…rejected the team when they didn’t sign your mancrush to the long term deal.

You got some nerve to say someone is not a fan of the team!!

what a hypocrite…

You were in a state of pure depression, even to the point that you desperately hoped that the Eagles would resign the rejected bum Nick Foles…

Your sole bane of existence centered around Foles going so far as to get mad at us for rejecting the bum because it would hurt his families’ feelings!!

Now suddenly…Presto…you are trying to re-invent yourself and invest in a QB who is against everything you value about the position…

The kid is a running QB…the exact kind of QB you have always hated…

You are a fraud, a hypocrite, and to boot…

A Damm Fool!

Stop with the BS Vinnie…

BREAKING NEWS….according to Matt Lombardo 97.5…Eagles acquire WR Dorial Green Beckham in a trade with the Titans..who get OT Dennis Kelly.

This is a good move by the Eagles…risk vs reward as DGB has been inconsistent as a Titan WR, but he has 1st round talent. DGB has had some character issues, however, hopefully with some maturation he can fulfill his maximum potential.
According to DGB coach Mike malarkey..DGB has good days and bad days and questions effort at times.

Hmmm…I guess the Eagles do not like what they see out of Nelson Agholor.

Agholor stated to a reporter that he did not feel he needed to get stronger or add muscle and that he felt he was fine the way he is. Agholor’s statement tells me that he does not believe he needs to put in the work to become a high caliber WR. He’s content with his natural ability which got him over in the PAC 12, but it will not get him over in the NFL. The sooner Agholor realizes this, the sooner he can become an NFL WR and not a Canadian league football player. Agholor lacks explosion and toughness to get off of the line when jammed.

Damn they cut bait real easy with dgb. Last year 2nd round pick for a bum back up oline man in Dennis Kelly who has been referred to as the best lesbian lineman in the NFL. If you’ve never seen Kelly’s NFL profile pic look it up and you’ll get the lesbo reference

seems like he will fit perfectly with the likes of huff,& Agholor. Hopefully he can catch them 5 yard bradturd passes.

By getting DGB for nothing, Howie essentially just replaced the second-round pick that Chip threw away last year in Bradford trade.

Good point Denny.
We’re in the first…
DGB in the second.

You can only do that if we can legitimately deem DBG’s value NOW as a second round pick! We traded a second round pick for a starting QB in Bradford…the throw in was Nick Foles
This guy has first round talent..Tennesse obviously knows something about this kid that made them give up after just one season…lets see if this Coaching staff can make something happen with the kid!

This is more a move to wake up two receivers ..Agholor and DGB…both are on the clock..this once again ,however seemingly illustrates how important a locker room presence a guy like Jeremy maclin would be in order to mentor these young pups..thanks again chump ….
