Can Brian Dawkins impact the Steelers game?

dawk

The Pittsburgh Steelers entered the 2016 season as a Super Bowl contender while the Philadelphia Eagles were a team in rebuild mode.  These two  undefeated teams meet on Sunday, who leaves Lincoln Financial field with their first loss?

The last time the Steelers were in Philadelphia for a regular season game was 2008, a 15-6 win for the Eagles behind a defensive effort that Ben Roethlisberger had no answer for.  It’s unlikely the Eagles repeat their nine sack performance from that September afternoon, but the defense will need to once again cause havoc for Ben Roethlisberger.

It obviously starts up front with the defensive line must, if they fail to get pressure, Roethlisberger will make the Eagles pay.  Antonio Brown is the best wide receiver in the NFL, and the Eagles lack a shut-down corner-back.

What the Eagles do have on defense are two Pro-Bowl safeties, and they need to prove why they are paid top dollar for their position.

Brian Dawkins played safety for the Eagles in 2008; eight years later he is the Football Operations Executive.

Knowing that Doug Pederson not only listens to his staff, but incorporates much of what they suggest as part of his game-plan, one must believe that Brian Dawkins has been summoned for insight heading into the match-up with the Steelers.

No impact from Dawkins, he no longer plays on Sunday’s nor does he practice or Coach the Players so what impact is he going to have?
Maybe a nice Pep Talk if you consider that an impact!!
But Pep Talks don’t make Plays the last time I checked..

There is no way in hell Brian Dawkins has been summoned to help with this game plan… Might be the most absurd thing I’ve ever read on here, with the exception of 90% of frauds posts

Yes let’s use 8 year old intelligence to wage our war. Dawn is inspiring but coach Pederson and Jim Schwartz are capable football minds. I fee certain that this will come down to making plays at the line of scrimmage.

Will Jalen Mills hold up again?
Will Jason Kelce bounce back?
Will the Eagles be able to score 29 points again?
I say No, No, No, and the Steelers win 27-13.
Last game with Lane Johnson but probably last game without McKelvin and Ertz.
The only way the Eagles win is if Wentz drives them for 3 TD and their defense scores 7 points with 2 turnovers ( tough ask against a perennial playoff team). Eagles have to hold onto interceptions today.

Arizona and Carolina clearly forgot how to play football today.

Watching Wash vs NY further leads me to believe that the East is anyone’s to have though I still think Wash is the least likely to win it and NY is the most likely.

Carolina killed themselves in the first half with penalties.

Against good defenses Car’s tackles can only hold up for a half. And in the second half Minny just destroyed those dudes. Straight manhandled them, getting to Newton in the process.

What the Bills doing to Arizona is also pretty damn impressive as well. Mollywhoopping for real.

8 sacks and 3 interceptions

Cam had his problems. Oline definitely had theirs.

2 missed field goals and a TD called back b/c of penalties

That would be everyone else.

Palmer dealt with similar issues as well

Did you see Tannehil’s performance against the Browns today…he stunk.

You’re saying it’s to early, but you decided it was not to early to compare Wentz to Tannehil without witnessing Wentz take one snap. A bit premature..no?

Football wise the only thing Wentz and Tannehill have in common is they are both tall Caucasian men. One is a real franchise QB, the other is mediocre back up at best.

Sometimes you can see when a player simply has IT. And make no mistake about this…Wentz has IT!

What a desperate reach this Wentz guy was! I can’t believe we mortgaged a 3rd round pick, two years from now to get him. I continue to be impressed with pederson too. Outstanding performance by the Eagles. This defense is playing well. Wentz is still playing beyond even the biggest homer’s expectation. And make no mistake, he’s the best player on offense by hands down. Still the weakness on offense is the wrs. The qb makes them look better than they are. And this coach that so many fans and media types clowned, is making mincemeat of the other coaches and fools of the same fans and media types.
I know it’s early. And our fellow posters who’ve chosen a more measured approach, I understand why. We’ve been down this road before. but this kid is nothing like the manufactured hype jobs of yesteryear. Those other qbs never passed the eye test like this kid. He’s the real deal. Take it from brewski.

It’s only the Browns. It’s only the Bears. It’s only the Steelers, oh wait.

Compares Wentz to Tannenhill…realizes Tannenhill threw 1 TD and 4 Ints his first 3 games and averaged about 6 yes/pass. Also lost those 2 games. Immediately retracts and calls everyone else stupid for pointing out that it was a ridiculous comparison.

Why don’t you just enjoy it?

This will be a long 2 weeks, bye week sucks!

Really great to see the Birds play this well against one of the elite teams in the NFL.
The defense is real.

The rookie is mature and talented, really cannot wait to see all that he will accomplish. That TD to Sproles was really something, Wentz scrambled and directed Sproles into the open hit him with a touch pass in stride. A thing of beauty.

Coaches on both sides of the ball are really doing a great job of putting the players in the right positions to make plays. The coaches also showed that they were not afraid to go with the “hot” running back, regardless of age, experience or contract.

Really a quality win, great to see. GO BIRDS!!!!

Rams passed on Wentz for Goff and Browns passed on Wentz but you can also toss in the Tennessee for passing on Wentz — Would anyone take Marcus Mariotta over Carson Wentz? Tennessee might have been better served selecting Wentz and trading Mariotta to the 49ers instead of accepting the Rams offer.
