The Cowboy Fan In Chris Christie Was Crying On The Air

I don’t think New Jersey Governor Chris Christie thought through what he said about Philadelphia Eagles fans earlier this week.  He was on WFAN-The Fan, a sports radio station up in New York and he was being interviewed by Craig Carton, who is one of the morning hosts on the station with Boomer Esiason.

“I understand why people are interested if you are a public figure, as to who you root for,” Christie said. “They’re interested. But the hostility, I will tell you that I take for being a Cowboys fan – and this is what I say to Giants fans all the time, and Eagles fans. Now Eagles fans I can understand it from a little more because the Eagles do suck and they’ve sucked for a long time. And their fans are generally angry, awful people.”

Yes he said it, “And their fans are generally angry, awful people.”

Understand that many of those Eagles fans are New Jersey residents who voted for him numerous times.  How could he verbally attack them in that fashion.

Clearly, Christie let the Dallas Cowboys fan in him take over and that Dallas Cowboy fan in him began to cry on the air.  It was a temper tantrum right there on the air. That’s the only way he would publicly attack a large group of his constituents. He was hurting just like all Dallas Cowboys fans nationwide were hurting after the painful loss on Sunday.  It was so painful that I’m sure many of them are still not over it and won’t be over it for months.

I saw the loss to the Green Bay Packers and I know it hurt. It was painful because the Cowboys battled all the way back from a 21-3 deficit to tie the game up at 28, then again at 31.  They were expecting to get over the hump, when Aaron Rodgers designed an ingenious play and completed an amazing pass.  He put a dagger into the back of every Cowboys fans on the earth.  One of those backs was that of a chubby Governor.

Jeff, my son-in-law is a Dallas Cowboys fan and he was hurting.  I texted him to see if he was alright after the final field goal when through.  He texted back “Hurtin but alright!”.

Christie was still hurting when he went on the air on WFAN-The Fan and the pain came out of his mouth.  Mature adults aren’t supposed to have temper tantrums like that.
