Brandon Graham: “I was never holding out… I love playing in Philly”

There had been much said about Eagles defensive end Brandon Graham holding out this off season.  Graham straightened out every yesterday by issuing a statement.

“Back in Philly and I just wanted to clear a few things up for all of our fans. I was never holding out. I was in Detroit last week spending some time with my family. I love playing in Philly, I love our fans and I love this organization.   I’ve never had an issue with my contract. I don’t know where that news came from. I will be here at OTAs leading the charge and ready to get things started.”

This statement should clear the air. Graham will be working with the Eagles during OTA’s next week.  He’s currently the team’s best pass rusher and he wants to more protective in the sack area next year.  Graham had only 5.5 sacks in the 2016-17 season, but he got close many times.  His goal this year is to bring the quarterback down every time he gets his hands on him.

Vinny Curry is the guy on the hotseat.  Number one pick Derek Barnett will be fighting for a starting job and playing time.  He said he doesn’t care which side he plays, he just wants to be given an opportunity.   Curry, who has a bigger contract than Graham will be pressed to be more productive or run the risk of losing his starting position.  It isn’t a coincidence that the Eagles drafted a defensive end with their first pick.
