Notes From The Phillies’ 2-1 Loss To Arizona

The Philadelphia Phillies lost their second straight game on Sunday afternoon, falling to the Diamondbacks 2-1. Their record drops to 24-50.

On The Mound

  • Jeremy Hellickson turned in a second straight solid start, allowing just one run on three hits over six innings.
  • Hellickson struck out seven.
  • Luis Garcia threw two scoreless innings.
  • Pat Neshek pitched a scoreless ninth.
  • Joaquin Benoit got through the 10th.
  • Edubray Ramos gave up the winning run in the 11th, giving up two hits and a walk. Ramos drops to 0-7 on the season.

At The Plate

  • The offense generated one lousy run.
  • Howie Kendrick doubled home the only run with a pinch-hit double in the seventh.
  • Cameron Perkins continues to start and bat leadoff. He turned in another poor showing, going 0-3 with three strikeouts.
  • Freddy Galvis went 1-5 with a single.
  • Aaron Altherr went 3-5 with a triple and two singles.
  • Tommy Joseph turned in an 0-5 effort.
  • Maikel Franco went 1-4 with a double, but got himself picked off of second base.
  • Odubel Herrera went 1-4 with a single and a walk.
  • Ty Kelly started at second, and went 0-3 with a walk.

Final Thoughts

Jeremy Hellickson is starting rebuild his trade value.

Hellickson has produced two straight strong starts, and if he continues this pace, he should turn himself back into a desirable commodity before the trade deadline.
