Notes From The Phillies’ 6-3 Win Over Milwaukee

The Philadelphia Phillies won the finale of their series with the Brewers on Sunday afternoon, 6-3. Their record improves to 34-62.

On The Mound

  • Jerad Eickhoff earned his second win of the season, allowing two runs over six innings of work.
  • Eickhoff gave up just three hits, and struck out six.
  • Pat Neshek pitched a scoreless seventh.
  • Joaquin Benoit gave up a run in the eighth.
  • Luis Garcia was called upon to get the save in the ninth, and was successful in doing so.

At The Plate

  • The offense put up six runs on eight hits.
  • Nick Williams went 1-3 with a two-run homer and drove in a third run later in the game.
  • Howie Kendrick went 2-4 with a two-run single.
  • Odubel Herrera went 1-3, driving in the team’s sixth run.
  • Cesar Hernandez went 1-3 with a single and a walk.
  • Freddy Galvis went 1-4 with a single.
  • Maikel Franco went 0-2 with two walks.
  • Tommy Joseph and Andrew Knapp both went 0-4.

Final Thoughts

Driving in another three runs today, Nick Williams continues to be the engine for the recent improved play of the offense.

The Phils have score five or more runs in six straight games, earlier in the season such a feat would have been impossible for this group.

If Williams alone can make the team that much more competitive, imagine when a couple more of their young prospects come up to join him.
