Notes From The Phillies’ 5-2 Win Over Atlanta

The Philadelphia Phillies won their second straight game on Tuesday night, taking down the Braves 5-2. Their record improves to 41-69.

On The Mound

  • Zach Eflin returned to the rotation, tossing seven solid innings, allowing two runs on seven hits.
  • Hoby Milner pitched a scoreless eighth.
  • Hector Neris got the save in the ninth.

At The Plate

  • The offense put up five runs on 11 hits.
  • Odubel Herrera went 3-4 with a double and a two-run homer.
  • Nick Williams went 2-4 with a double and a walk, driving in one.
  • Maikel Franco went 1-5, driving in a run.
  • Cesar Hernandez went 1-4 with a double and a walk.
  • Freddy Galvis went 2-5 with a couple singles.
  • Daniel Nava started in left and went 0-5.
  • Tommy Joseph went 0-4 with a walk.
  • Cameron Rupp went 1-2 with two walks.

Final Thoughts 

Zach Eflin is an interesting case.

He’s shown flashes of being a capable starter. He’s also looked like a guy that might be nothing more than a spot starter.

This will be Eflin’s third crack at sticking in the majors, hopefully the third time will be the charm for the young right hander.
