Notes From The Phillies’ 17-2 Loss To Chicago

The Philadelphia Phillies lost the second game of their series with the Cubs on Saturday night 17-2. Their record drops to 47-81.

On The Mound

  • Ben Lively lasted five innings, allowing six runs on five hits and two walks.
  • Lively struck out eight, but also allowed four home runs.
  • Drew Anderson pitched 1.1 innings, and was lit up for five runs on four hits.
  • Jesen Therrien took over for the rest of the sixth and the seventh, and gave up two runs.
  • Yacksel Rios mopped up in the ninth, and was abused for four runs.

At The Plate

  • The offense managed two runs on eight hits.
  • The only positive from this game? Another Rhys Hoskins home run! Hoskins launched a two-run shot in the first inning, and finished the game 2-4.
  • Cesar Hernandez went 1-4 with a single.
  • Freddy Galvis went 1-4 with a double.
  • Nick Williams went 0-3 with three strikeouts.
  • Tommy Joseph and Maikel Franco each turned in an 0-4.
  • Pedro Florimon played center, and went 0-3.
  • Jorge Alfaro went 2-3 with a double.

Final Thoughts

Ben Lively was just overmatched by the powerful Chicago lineup in this one.

Rhys Hoskins has hit 10 home runs in just 17 games. He has a very real chance to finish the season with 20 bombs.
