The Philadelphia Phillies won their second straight game on Monday night, taking down the Braves 6-1. Their record improves to 49-81.

On The Mound

  • Aaron Nola bounced back from two poor outings to return to form and deliver seven innings of one-run ball.
  • Nola scattered five hits and struck out six.
  • Luis Garcia pitched a scoreless eighth.
  • Adam Morgan mopped up in the ninth.

At The Plate

  • The offense put up six runs on 10 hits.
  • Rhys Hoskins didn’t homer for the first time in five games, but went 2-4 with a double and drove in a run.
  • Cesar Hernandez went 1-4 with a double.
  • Freddy Galvis went 0-4.
  • Nick Williams went 1-4 with a single and two strikeouts.
  • Daniel Nava got a start in left and went 1-4 with a single.
  • Maikel Franco went 1-3 with a single and drove in a run.
  • Pedro Florimon played center and went 2-4 with a triple.
  • Cameron Rupp went 1-3 with a solo homer.

Final Thoughts

Nice to see Aaron Nola get back on track after a couple of rough outings. Two poor starts were forgivable, but if he had struggled in a third straight outing, it would have been cause for concern.
