Notes From The Phillies’ 2-1 Win Over Miami

The Philadelphia Phillies won their second straight game on Friday night, taking down the Marlins 2-1. Their record improves to 51-83.

On The Mound

  • Nick Pivetta turned in a good start, allowing just one run over six innings. Pivetta gave up four hits and three walks, striking out six.
  • Edubray Ramos pitched a scoreless seventh.
  • Hoby Milner got the first two outs of the eights, and Juan Nicasio got the final out.
  • Hector Neris got the save in the ninth.

At The Plate

  • The offense put up two runs on six hits.
  • Cesar Hernandez went 0-3 with two walks.
  • Freddy Galvis went 1-4 with a single.
  • Rhys Hoskins wen 0-3 with a walk, ending his hitting streak.
  • Maikel Franco went 1-4 with a double.
  • Nick Williams hit sixth, and went 0-4.
  • Tommy Joseph went 2-4 with a couple of singles.
  • Pedro Florimon went 1-4 with a single and a walk.
  • Jorge Alfaro went 1-4 with a single and drove in a run.

Final Thoughts

Nick Pivetta was able to build on his solid outing from last weekend to deliver another quality start. Not a lot of things have been going right for the young pitcher at this point.

The team might want to give Nick Williams a day off or two. The rookie has been struggling heavily for a couple weeks now, and his average is set to drop below .270.
