Ben Simmons was outstanding in his debut last night in the 120-115 loss to the Washington Wizards. The speedy 6’10 point guard showed he’s going to difficult to stop because of his combination of speed and size.
The youngster was 7 of 15 from the field. He was 4 of 6 from the free throw line and dished out five assists. Simmons had 10 rebounds, which is outstanding. He had one block and one turnover, which is very good when you consider how much he handles the basketball.
Numerous times during the game, Simmons was able to put the ball on the floor and take whomever was guarding him to the hoop. He was scoring with either hand on layup against the Wizards.
Going forward I expect defensive players will start backing off of Simmons and making shoot from outside.

Simmons spoke the media after the game.
Simmons played well yesterday. Simmons didn’t challenge Gortat yesterday. I’m hoping he gets at least one foul a game on the opponents center. Gortat was able to play 35 minutes with only 3 fouls and dominated the glass for 17 rebounds.
