The Carolina Panthers have until 4pm today to workout a long term deal with veteran offensive tackle Jordan Gross.
The Eagles have need of offensive tackles with both Jon Runyan and Tra Thomas unsigned They're going to be looking for them in the draft but they're also would love to get a shot at a quality player like Gross.
Signing Gross would take some of the pressure off of the Eagles in the draft. If they don't get the big Panther, they might be forced to surrender both of their draft picks in order to move up and get one of the five marquee offensive tackles in this year's selection process.
The Birds will be watching the Carolina team to see exactly what they do. The Panthers are said to be trying to sign Gross, so they can franchise disgruntled defensive end Julius Peppers.
Peppers is not likely to ever be an Eagle. Somebody told the Charlotte Observer that Peppers has identified four teams which he is willing to play for. One of them is the Cowboys, the others are two NFC South teams and the fourth is a AFC.
If they're not able to get a deal done with Gross, they'll have to decide whether to franchise either Gross or Peppers.
The Gross deal will likely be for around $9 million dollars a year if they get it done.
