I had learned earlier this week that Brian Dawkins was telling people he would test the free agent waters but I blew it off, but Dawk was serious.
He is headed to Denver at the moment to visit the Broncos. I don't know that an offer will be made but one thing is for sure an offer can be made.
Do you think a team like the Broncos which has an offense that can put points on the board would value a worker and leader like Dawkins for a defense that was 28th in the NFL.
Dawk had made it a point to start working out now, so he would be in the good shape throughout the off season.
All along he let anybody who would ask know that he wasn't opposed to finishing his career elsewhere.
It has to be unnerving for the Eagles to see him taking a trip to another team, but they may just be letting him get an offer, so they have a point from which to negotiate.
I don't think a team like the Eagles can afford to let Dawkins leave town. It wouid be an awful public relations mistake for the Birds to let him walk.
If you combine that with the comments that a source close to Donovan McNabb supposedly made to ESPN's Michael Smith about him waiting to see if the team was serious about building a Super Bowl championship team.
Imagine a team with about $40 million dollars of salary cap room letting Dawkins leave town.
You could wind up with a very unhappy fan base.
