They found a way to solve the problem and it materialized in a trade which sent starting right guard Stacy Andrews to the Seattle Seahawks for a 2011 seventh round draft pick. The Eagles basically gave away Andrews or maybe even begged the Seahawks to take him off their hands.
How far down can your value go than being worth a seventh round pick?
“I think Stacy feels more comfortable at the tackle spot, and he’s voiced that,” Eagles general manager Howie Roseman said. “We feel that with the addition of Reggie Wells and the health of our offensive line we feel comfortable at the guard position. We think it was a good fit on both sides.”
Now the Eagles have to get Wells ready to play on their offensive line and they don’t have long to do it. They’ll have a workout tomorrow then take a couple of days off, before getting serious on Wednesday about getting ready to play the Green Bay Packers.
The Eagles also traded linebacker Tracy White to the New England Patriots for an undisclosed draft pick. White is an outstanding special teams player and can do a good job as a nickle linebacker.
In addition to trading Andrews and White, the Eagles released their last set of players.
The last guy to go was wide receiver Kelley Washington who is a tremendous special teams player. Washington wasn’t as familiar with the Eagles offense as veteran Hank Baskett, so the Eagles decided to stay with a guy who they know can step in and play any of their wide receiver positions if somebody goes down.
I knew they didn’t trust Quintin Demps at the safety position any more. The mistakes he made in that NFC Championship game a few years ago, are the same mistakes he continued making. Time ran out on him, but he’ll get signed by somebody to return kicks.
Macho Harris is a competent safety but he’s nothing special. The same is true of his ability to play the corner position in the Eagles system. He belongs at the corner position for a cover two team like the Colts, Buccaneers or Bears. Harris does a good job of tackling and attacking the routes from the cover two corner position.
I knew second-year tight end Cornelius Ingram was gone when I saw him out there dragging his leg for the last week after getting the cyst removed from the back of his knee. He needs to get healthy and regain the power in that leg and he will make somebody’s football team.
Wide receiver Chad Hall is just not fast enough and too small. He may wind up on the practice squad. Wide receiver Jordan Norwood was in the wrong place at the wrong time. He may be able to play elsewhere in the league.

Good move to lose Andrews but they should of never bothered getting him. 2 guys there were seriously injured and we should of never signned them thinking we are getting a steal. All the players we signed with injuries have not worked out and I hope they learned their lesson.
Hard to believe keeping Baskett over Washington. Washington is such a special team stud… and is Baskett REALLY gonna’ see much quality time at WR this year? Wonder if the the Hankster had to promise to bring his wife to team parties as a condition of making the team.
I agree,
I like Washinghton much better over Baskett who has never stood out to me in the 4 years he’s been with the Eagles.
I do look for them to add a 4th Safety and maybe a blocking TE and/or bring Washignton back at WR
I do see OL K Dunlap being the next player Cut,Release or possibly a trade with either moving Tapp/Parker to another team to make open a roster spot or two..
If Washington doesn’t know the offense, exactly how is he supposed to help so much more than Baskett? Baskett can play any of the WR spots and remembering how quickly injury issues can crop up, it doesn’t make much sense to get rid of the guy who can step in anywhere and know the offense. Baskett is a very good STs player, too, so why the hand wringing for Washington? Makes no sense.
FYI, fantasy league is all set to go. Draft is Tues @ 9PM. If you will not be there, please set your autopicks.
I have no problem with the trade of Andrews. He was a mistake and did not seem to want to be here. They knew he was an error and made a move to correct it, getting an adequate guard from the Cards. Good job.
