I know he's gotten in trouble a number of times in the last few years, but I think 6'6" 219 WR Matt Jones could be a help to the Eagles in the red zone if he could stay out of trouble.
Jones was just let go by the Jaguars because he was rearrested after the authorities found alcohol in his system which was a violation of his parole agreement. Jones was busted with some cocaine last year before the season.
Yes he's got a problem and yes he only caught only two touchdowns in 2008 but he had his best season despite only playing in 12 games.
He caught 65 passes for 761 yards in those 12 games. He's obviously learning how to play the position in between toots on the pipe.
You can sign him to a an incentive-laden deal and if he doesn't pan out you ship him out of town.
Remember he was a college quarterback who astounded the teams at the combine by clocking a forty in the low 4.4's. 6'6" in height while running a 4.4.
He knows he's near the end of the line, so you're probably can get a good year or two out of him before he self-destructs and you have to cut him.
This dude will have little if any bargaining power. After Joe Banner is through with him at the negotitating table he will be down to 5'6".
I think it's worth looking into but nothing more.
