Defensive Tackles Suh and McCoy Are Best In NFL Draft

Suh of NebraskaThe Senior Bowl is coming up next Saturday and talk is already starting about the players available.

According to Mike Mayock of the NFL Network, dominant defensive tackles Ndamukong Suh of Nebraska and Gerald McCoy of Oklahoma are by far the best two players in the upcoming draft.

He says Suh is slightly better than McCoy as a run stopper but McCoy is a better pass rusher.

I don’t think fans realize what a dominant defensive tackle means to a defense.  You can’t run or pass with a 300-pounder in the middle of your offensive backfleld.

Of course these guys will be gone before the Eagles pick, but the Birds should try to become more dominant on their defensive line.  They don’t get a lot of pass rush pressure from Patterson and Bunkley inside on first and second down.

The Birds have other pressing needs before they even think about defensive tackle help.  Although theyre not great there, they’re good enough at the tackle position to win.

McCoy in action They desperately need another quality weak safety.  He needs to be able to run with wide receivers and make sure open field tackles.

They could also use a dominant pass rushing left end.  The defensive is far too dependent on their blitz.

Help at the linebacker position would also be beneficial.  We all saw that their depth at middle linebacker wasn’t good enough.

This would allow them to put Quintin Mikell back at his best position which is strong safety.  He’s not capable of running with wide receivers and playing too far from the line of scrimmage.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they drafted depth on the offensive line.
