The Top DT’s In The Draft

There is major talent among the defensive tackles in this draft.

Glenn Dorsey of LSU is again listed at the top of the defensive tackles in this draft class.  He's strong as an ox and quick as a cat but doesn't have tremendous size.

He can single-handedly take over a game and take an offense apart.  Dorsey could easily be the first pick in the draft if a team wants to rebuild its defense.

USC's Sedrick Ellis is bigger than Dorsey but not quite as consistently dominant.  Dorsey is a bit quicker but Ellis is just as good a pass rusher.   Ellis can be unblockable at times from his defensive tackle spot.

His hand quickness and upper body strength will make him formidable for any blocker.

North Carolina's Kentwan Balmer is a few pounds bigger than both Dorsey and Ellis but he's not quite as dominant. He's a heavy duty defensive tackle who can plant himself in a spot and refuse to move.

He gets off on the snap and is capable of getting penetration.  Balmer is tremendously powerful but doesn't dominate all the time.

Next up amongst the tackle is Notre Dame's Trevor Laws.  He plays with great leverage on the blocker.  He's a former wrestler  who can counter just about any move by the offensive linemen.

I think Laws might be a good three four nose tackle.
