Reggie White Named No. 7 On All-Time NFL List

The NFL Network has put together a list of what they consider to be the The Top 100 NFL Players of All-Time.  It’s a list which is sure to create all types of debates.  There was a former Phialdelphia Eagle amongst the top 10 and I’m talking about a former teammate of mine, The Minister of Defense,  Reggie White.

Despite his greatness as a football player, he was a better man  than he was a player.  There was nothing he couldn’t do as a defensive end.  He possessed out of this world strength and could run a 4.6 forty-yard dash while weighing over 320 pounds.

I also had the good fortune of playing with two other guys on the list in college at USC:  Ronnie Lott and Anthony Munoz.  I remember them coming in as freshmen and asking me a lot of questions.

Here are the top 20 players on that list and the person who introduced them on the show.

20. Brett Favre – Steve Mariucci

19. Bronko Nagurski – Jim Dent

18. Ray Lewis – Marvin Lewis

17. Barry Sanders – Wynton Marsalis

16. Otto Graham – Don Shula

15. Deacon Jones – Jennifer Allen

14. Sammy Baugh – Bill Belichick

13. Joe Greene – Dennis Miller

12. Anthony Munoz – Bob Trumpy

11. Ronnie Lott – Marcus Allen

10. Dick Butkus

9. Don Hutson – Peter King

8. Peyton Manning – Ray Lewis

7. Reggie White – Mike Holmgren

6. Johnny Unitas – Frank Deford

5. Walter Payton – Jim Brown

4. Joe Montana – Jerry Rice

3. Lawrence Taylor – Bill Parcells

2. Jim Brown – Burt Reynolds

1. Jerry Rice – Jon Gruden

Is there anybody missing who should be here?

You could really put any of those top 5 at one.Reggie was such a badass.Met him at training camp when they used too go too West Chester. My ole man knew the photographer of the local paper and we used too chill on the sidelines right near the players. He was the coolest guy too the young fans. Total class.Asking you about yourself…mixing it up..just a great person. Thats why i get disgusted by some of these young dudes at camp dont even give these young fans the time of day.Different culture i guess.

The MInister of Defense with the head slap on you…bull rush.

Keith Adams was a heckuva teamer though jroc.

Just glad to see that E Smith wasnt on the list. I know me being a Cowboy hater doest help my cred here but I really believe he is the most over rated player ever. His offensive line was probley one of the best in league history. Glad to see B Sanders get some credit over Smith

Its a shame Buddy is getting older and could not do the intro for Reggie. I actually saw some linebacker named Garry Cobb on The Reggie White radio show at the old Market East. My father and I stopped by and watched the show being broadcast while I was on my way back to City Line and 54th. We got a chance to shake his hand and say hello at the end of the show, he was as gracious as a man could be.

Reggie was a great player and a humble man, but #1 on his personal all-time “team” was always the Lord Jesus!

So many good players where rule changes have affected the game more than any other sport
Really hard to do it overall

Should be done in 20 year increments or something like that
