From Riley Roberts
G: Based on the personnel that the Eagles have acquired this off season, what
type of offense will they be running? I see them spreading the ball around and
running ala the Saints. Your thoughts?
Riley,
I expect to the see the Eagles run a multi-faceted offense which spreads team
out to run the ball and throw the ball.I also think they'll take advantage of bigger
backup tight ends and get in power sets and pound the ball. The key will be Kevin
Curtis because you need a speedy receiver on the field to stopping both safeties
from creeping up and helping out in the running game. The Eagles offense should
copy the Colts by spreading teams out, then letting McNabb calls play at the line
of scrimmage. This will force the defense to declare whether they want to stop the
run or the pass, then McNabb will call the play they're vulnerable to.
From Sean Eltringham
Hey G I was curious to get your opinion on the Eagles Wr Corps as a whole.
Personally I think right now the WR Corps as a whole is the Best Reid has ever
had. No guys of Owens's caliber for sure but I think we have 5 good players
(Brown,Curtis,Avant,Basket & G-Lew) who can hurt a defense if not given the
proper respect. Reggie I think will have a break out year & I think the
addition of Curtis will prove to be 1 of the Best (if not the Best) FA moves of
the year. You gotta think that Baskett & Avant will be improved w/ another year
of experience & G-Lew has proven to be very good in his TRUE role as a #3 or #4
WR. It also sounds like Bloom may have a chnace to be a pretty good player
himself. You seem to be very high on the little guy & although he's had a great
offseaon so far we obviously won't know for sure until the pads go on & he gets
hit. Overall I'm really excited about this WR Corps for this year…don't know
if I have ever felt this good about our Wr's as a whole in a long time.
Sean,
I agree with you, I think this is the best overall group they've ever had during
Andy Reid's time here. I think Reggie will show improvement; Baskett and
Avant will take a big step; G-Lew will make some key catches like he's always
done; and you may get a little help from Bloom. The guy which will make the
difference as whether they're good or very good is Kevin Curtis. I think he will
contribute but I dont' know if he's ready for a big time breakout year. He's the
fastest of the group and therefore capable taking the ball to the house at all times,
but can he stand up to the physical play. He's no where near as big as Donte
Stallworth. His quickness may make up for his lack of size but we'll see.
I do like this young group of receivers.
From Cat,
G, I was disappointed in your lack of response last night when your man Josh said,
If a police officer accuses you of something, you probably have something to hide.
You know that's not true; and he further showed total ignorance of our judicial
system when he was ready to ban Vick for life just because he'd been accused.
(I suspect the guy is guilty and if so deserves whatever he gets — but our nation
of laws says you're innocent until proven guilty).
Josh sounds very young; maybe he should remember: It's better to be silent and
be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.
Like your style …insomniac's friend…but you dropped the ball here, in my opinion.
Cat,
First of all, I don't argue each issue every time it's brought up, but Vick could still
be suspended even if he's not found guilty of anything in a court of law. The NFL
suspended Pacman Jones despite the fact that he wasn't found guilty. The fact that
a number of informants say he attended the dog fights and the fact that reports say
they found dog carcasses on his former property will probably lead to him being
suspended.
