The Phillies actually got a decent year out of Jose Contreras this past season. Despite not seeming to know where the ball was going at times, he still posted a 6-4 record with a 3.34 ERA.
And the Phillies have rewarded him with a two-year contract worth $5.5 million. The team also has an option for 2013, shortly after Contreras’ 60th birthday.
I think this is definitely a good move for the Phillies in 2011. After that? I’m not so sure. Would have preferred a one-year deal, but Contreras might not have been up for that.

A good signing and a reliable versatile Pitcher who can Pitch in any role from the 7th to the 9th Inning
I think the 2 Year $5.5 deal is a little steep, but good relievers will cost you good $$$..
Now they need to go out and secure at least 1 or 2 Left-Handed Pitchers to help give the Bullpen flexibility and a edge in facing tough Left-handed batters, then their Satff will be pretty complete.
