As the Eagles prepare to right the ship and take out the Houston Texans on Thursday night, I know the big question on everyone’s mind is: What’s happening with Jamie Moyer?
Well, I’m here to help. Or, at the very least, to pass along information from someone in the know. And MLB.com’s Todd Zolecki passes along an interesting nugget on Twitter. Not so much that Moyer is having Tommy John surgery, but that….he’s not done?
“Jamie Moyer had Tommy John surgery today. “I look forward to the challenge of making a comeback for the 2012 season,” he said in a statement,” Zolecki tweets.
Wow…really?
Moyer turned 48-years old last month. And notice it says 2012, not 2011 (of course no one could recover that quickly). He’d be almost 50-years old in someone’s spring training (if someone took a chance on him).
What do you think? Would someone take a chance on him? He doesn’t rely on power, that’s for sure. I wonder if he could do it at that age, but if anyone can, it’s probably Moyer.
sometimes following tj surgery a pitcher picks up a few ticks on the fb, so Moyer might be throwing a blazin’ 85. Good for him, go for it
