Two games today in the Big East tournament and the low seeds won both of them. Unfornunately the Villanova Wildcats were one of the teams to take it on the chin.
They lost to Marquette 80 to 76 as they couldn’t pull it out the way they had done in the two earlier games versus the Golden Eagles.
This isn’t good news because of what it will mean for them in the NCAA tournament. Their seeding won’t be any where near as high as it would have been had they finished the regular season strong, then done well in the Big East tournament.
Marquette did a great job on Scottie Reynolds as they limited him to only 10 points.
Reynolds stepped up with Corey Fisher scoring 16 points and Antonio Pena contributing 14.
Corey Stokes had an ever bigger game, as he came off the bench to score 22 points as he hit 6 out of 8 three point attempts.
Still it wasn’t enough because they couldn’t get any stops down the stretch.
