It’s going to be very cold in the New Meadowlands Stadium in North Jersey this weekend. Make no mistake about it. It will be Giants weather on Sunday.
This is the time of the year when passing games struggle and running games take over games. The wind is going to be blowing forcefully and passing the ball won’t be an easy thing to do.
The Giants will go into this game without Pro Bowl wide receiver Steve Smith and the other starting wide receiver, Hakeem Nicks won’t be at full strength. They’re going to have to run the ball well to win the game It’s just that simple.
If the Eagles can stop their running attack, it will force interception-prone quarterback Eli Manning and the Giants to throw the football more than they would like. Manning has already thrown 19 picks in this season.
The Birds should be able to add to that with Asante Samuel coming back, if they can stop the Giants running game. Turnovers will ultimately decide this football game.
They were able to stop that ground attack in the first game. The key will be the play of Antonio Dixon and the defensive tackles. If they get penetration and keep rookie middle linebacker Jamar Chaney and the Birds linebackers free to roam, the run defense will be fine.
One of the keys to stopping Brandon Jacobs is getting to him before he gets his speed up. The linebackers and secondary must attack him immediately or they’ll have to take a pounding from a 265 pound runaway train.
With the other guy Ahmad Bradshaw, they can’t afford to miss tackles on this guy or he’ll hurt them with big plays. Bradshaw is much smaller than Jacobs, but his legs are stronger than you would think. They’ve got to wrap him up and not just collide with him.
“They have great ability in the front seven there and the two running backs just are Pro Bowl-caliber running backs”, Eagles defensive coordinator Sean McDermott. “And they’re hot right now, both of them are hot. So, whereas last time we came in and you know, [number] 44 [RB Ahmad Bradshaw] was the starter, now [number] 27 [RB Brandon Jacobs] is the starter and 44 plays just as much. But both of those guys are hot and they’re running the ball extremely well.”
If the Giants can get movement with the defensive tackles and get off on Chaney, it will be a long day for the Birds. On the other hand, if the Birds can use their quickness to get penetration into the backfield and attack the New York backs before they get going, it will put them in position to rack up interceptions from Manning.
Remember, turnovers will decide this football game.
Bradey and the Patriots lit up the Air Wave in a Snow Storm in Chicago. If Vick is the MVP then he has to come threw like Bradey did. And knowing Big Red, he will get the oppurtunity. Even if it Kills him(Vick). (I mean that literally). Say what you want about DMac but he won games in December. Andy’s annual year end victory Sale.
Chestnuts roasting on an open fire, Dixon nipping at Eli’s nose, It’s time for
Earhole football! Hit Eli so hard he’s looking through his helmet’s Earhole and has that Sesame Street “One of these things is not like the other” confused look on his face.
E A G L E S!!!!!!
Ernie Sims aka the Invisible Man aka Fantastic Scrub comes out of Nowwhere and blows up a Giant’s running play forces a fumble and Quinten Mikell runs it back for a touchdown!
Just putting it out for the Universe to pick up. (The Secret)
I would start out with a 5-3-3 alignment with 5 D/Lineman across the line of Scrimmage
Cole,Bunkley,Dixon,Patterson,Parker right over the 5 O/Lineman of the Giants
Then have the 3 LB’s (SIms/Chaney/Fokou) and have 2 CB’s with 1 Deep Safety in Mickell to cover
the middle of the field
Remember the Giants WR’s are hurting and only true weapon is Nicks who is not 100% and not really a sppedster so the likliehood the EAgles have to worry about the Deep Pass is pretty minimal
Load up the line of Scrimmage and have CB PAtterson cover Nicks and let SAmuel handle Hagan/MAnnigham who are not fast but more possesion types of Receivers…
Then on obvious passing situations, go back to a normal 4-3-4 or nickle & dime packages if
Giants come out with 3 Wide Sets…
I would run this 5-3-3 to start the game and then use it on 1st Downs and running situations
stop the run we win the game. i wish it was that easy.

I re-watched the first game yesterday, and Ernie Sims played very well against the run.
By the way, I commend you for giving “Mr. Cobb” his due respect. That’s what’s up!!!
I wouldn’t be surprised to see a healthy dose of Kevin Boss early, seeing how defending the pass is more difficult than the run.
Watch their back-up TE (Travis Beckham) have a chance for a big play or two since the Eagles D
will be keying on Nicks and Boss siince their other weapons in the passing game are injured and not playing..
Drummer – Thanks for the thoughts on Mr.Cobb and info on Ernie Sims. I will watch to see how much he has improved.
Maybe I’ve been hard on him because I thought he was going to be a IMPACT LB, like the Bears have.
I wanted Andy Reid Fired after those 2 embarrassing loses last year to Dallas, but this year he has proved me wrong and I’m not too stubborn to admit it. I even stopped calling him Andy Greed after the great Colt victory.
Let’s go EAGLES! What a Season!
Eagles have an interesting decision to make about E Sims after this season who becomes a Free-Agent.. SHould thety sign him to a long-term deal, a 1 Year offer (which he probably would take as an
insult) or make no offer at all …
What’s everyone’s opinion of him, I think he’s improved a lot from the early part of the season and he is durable, playing about every snap and appears to be a very good teammate ..
I think he deserves a 2 year Deal and he is still young enough and in good health and an overall good player to warrant a comittment from the Team
DeSean Jackson and agent mum on contract

“There are a lot of great players out here, and just to be with the rest of these guys is definitely an honor,” said Jackson, who also declined to talk about his contract with The Inquirer. “Being the best of the best is just great for that competitive edge.”
Jackson later went on WPEN-FM (97.5) and talked briefly about his contract.
“It would be great, but there are bigger things out there that I’m worried about,” Jackson said. “I’m just going to train hard and work hard and enjoy myself right now. I’ll let Drew be the aggressive one and I’ll just sit back and handle what I can do.”

Jackson, who has avoided questions about his finances for most of the season, was asked on Tuesday if his contract had anything to do with his recent state of mind.
“That has nothing to do with anything,” he said.

You are something else!!!
Like I said, I re-watched the Giants game yesterday and was able to focus on the defense. I don’t know how well Sims has played over the entire season. I only noted his play against the Giants. As far as I know, he could have played like a high schooler in the other games.
SIms in my opinion has played pretty well over the last 6-7 Games or so which I have stated for the
record for whatever it’s worth..
G:
I think that the Giants will run a short passing game to Bradshaw, the FB and the TE’s and challenge our LB’s to bring them down. They’ll obviously pound the rock like you said, but play action, screens and TE flys, outs and razors even, will challenge the rookie and Sims. The Eagles’ D will really have to earn this victory in my opinion.
