Falcons owner says the team had drafted out a four-game suspension and were set to have it delivered to Michael Vick before the Commisioner stepped in and asked them to hold off.
Blank said he pressured Michael to change the people he was hanging around and begin making different choices in his life. He gave personal advise to Michael to focus on dealing with the charges against him because the upcoming trial will have a lot to do with how he lives the rest of his life. He said he's disappointed that Michael has put himself in these circumstances. Blank said this is not the Michael Vick he has known over the time he has owned the Atlanta Falcons.
Blank said they knew they needed to make some decisions before training camp. They considered a paid leave of absence but they didn't think that was appropiate because of the serious allegations in the indictment. The Falcons owner says they want to be focused on training camp and not get caught up in all the controversy surrounding Vick. He said Michael's absence might run into the season and throughout the season.
Blank said the indictment has affected everyone in the Falcons and everyone in the NFL. He said that these charges have gone past the league and among people throughout the country. He said people are distraught by what was in the indictment. He went on to say we're not here to pass judgment on his guilt or innocence. Blank said they can't allow emotions to drive their actions. According to Blank, this team and entire organization is going to do the right thing both on and off the field.
Rich McKay who should be fired for getting rid of Matt Schaub and putting the entire organization the back of Michael Vick. We've got a football team that needs the right environment to flourish. We owe it to our players to produce an environment to give our players a chance to do their jobs. He's not willing to do any what if's.
