Michael Vick seemed irritated when he was interviewed by the media yesterday at the Eagles Nova Care Complex. A number of times during the interview session, he challenged the reporters who were asking the questions.
The Eagles starting quarterback felt he was misquoted in a comment he made after the first game of the season. He replaced Kevin Kolb after Kolb suffered a concussion. After the game he made a statement that he regretted. He was quoted as saying.
“I feel like if I had been out there for four quarters maybe we would have had a chance to win the game.”
You need to take a look at the following video of Vick talking to the media on Monday after Andy Reid’s news conference.
I think Vick meant to say, I thought we could have won the game if we had more time, but he didn’t say that. I think a lot of people who saw the game felt that Vick and the Birds could have won the game if they had started their comeback sooner.
Vick didn’t mean to be taking a shot at Kevin Kolb but it came out that way and he regretted it. Kolb and Vick have a good relationship and they’ve made it a point to support each other in every way.
Vick also felt he was tricked into saying he would vote for himself as the league’s MVP. He has said he meant that comment as a joke, but it was written up as if he was serious.
It’ll be interesting going forward to see how the reporters write about Vick. One of Donovan McNabb’s mistakes was not befriending more of the local media members.
Guys who talk a lot like give a lot of quotes like Sheldon Brown and now Kevin Kolb and Quintin Mikell are taking care of by the media. They don’t seem to like guys who get into spats with them about something they have written.
Check out the following video and tell me what you think.
Might be some of the additional pressure of the playoff’s and a poor performance in the Minn game causing #7 to lose some of his cool. Hopefully he will not focus on the media in this town but on the games ahead and let them (the media) take care of themselves. Easy to write that, M Vick has been through alot during his college and professional career. Hopefully he has some people in place now that can keep his head in a good spot.
I am rooting for the guy to succeed, hadn’t really thought that I would feel that way after what he had done in his past, but I am tired of seeing the media in this town grind up guys with quotes taken out of context or wild interpretations of off-hand comments. I want to see this guy do well and lead the Eagles.
Wow, Vick and this Eagle team are really feeling the pressure aren’t they…
Why is he even bringing up a sound-bite from 4 months ago that most don’t remember or even gave it
much thought one way or the other..(because this is his lame attempt at a repsonse because of
Sal Pal’s report that Coach AR would yank him in favor of Kolb if he doesn’t pick up the Blitzes)
Vick should be above all this crap and work hard on getting ready for the Packers..
Another signal that the Nova Care Center is falling apart and that now, little by little, players
and coaches seemd to be running for cover and making excuses…
This is clearly the end of the Vick-Kool Aid treatment that he has recived from the local media since his great comeback season…
Sounds like all hell is breaking loose that the Novacare Center ..
G-Man, you better have your helmet on, when you visit there …
so what if he said he’s the MVP, has guts to say it, believe it
In fairness, he didn’t bring up the comment, the reporters brought it up because they were talking about the Packers using it as a rallying point for the game.
Paulman you love writing statements to get people worked up. You really try to find anything negative and make it seem as if the team is done and they have no chance. I guess the Packers are perfect since you havnt commented on anything wrong with them? Are they questioning their ability since they are a 6th seed and barly sqweaked out a victory against the Bears who were not even close to as desperate to win as packers? Is putting up 10 points in a must win game really a good thing? I really would like to hear your input on some negatives from the packers team and their clubhouse? Because we all know a 6th seed team is not perfect…………
I don’t see a problem with what he said about the first Green Bay game. The media are always more focused on what a guy didn’t say rather than what he said. He didn’t take a shot at Kolb. But of course we know how the media would spin it. All these stories generated by the media are irrelevant. They do what they do best, stir up drama. That’s why they are going out of business because no one reads that junk.
a win this Sunday will settle all this talk, a loss and all hell breaks loose
Vick said and quoted “Im learning you guys”! THe media wants to start up a bunch of non-sense to get this team going to a different direction……. Yes Vick has the confidence…… Will we be a playoff team if he didnt do what he has done???? He feels as if he is the better man at the position and his actions speak louder than words……
Tom Brady has the time in the pocket to think about what he’s doing tomorrow and for next week as well behind that offensive line in NE……. LMAO…….. Vick doesn’t have the time to even pump fake behind this offensive line…… But one thing I can say Vick is confident with what he has!!
If that is the case…that the Packers need to point to an obsure 4 month old quote to motivate them to win a playoff game, we are in a better position then I thought…I think some of these writers operate on a 4th grade mentality…they are motivated by moving to the next round, oh wait…I just learned that during training camp Arron Rodgers called Stew Bradley a mean name, guess we are motivated now…here we come SB..whoa….play the game a let the writers play their own games
This is a non-story Paulman. You are getting a little ridiculous. I think Vick is pumped and ready to go and will playing with a chip on his shoulder which is good. After a poor performance against Minnesota and everyone thinking Vick’s show is over, he’ll be out to prove them wrong.
The media deserves too be told about themselves now and again. Really who cares…he told them about how they misqouted him, something he wanted too let em know.Big deal. Packers are using what as a rallying cry? Sure…they should rally a run-game.
If Mccoy can get off early im feeling it will totally take pressure of the d. Get a 10 point lead or even a 7 pointer on first drive. I believe the Packers knowing there rungame will have no success against this run d plays into our hands. Play coverage. Rodgers is an AllPro and will no when the heats coming. So wither dial it up at the best time andmix up who your sending or play coverage and dare him.
I’d like too see Q and D-patt handle the blitzing.Much faster and from what i saw in the Minny game Patt has some ability there on the blitz. Anyone else have any ideas for a good defensive scheme?
Legit ones without doom and gloom and other garbage about whats wrong with our division champ birds. Who are playing the Wild card Pack who backed there sorry a$$ into the p-offs by beating a team with zero too play for Sunday. Just saying.
BIRDGAME P-OFF FOOTBALL!!!Mike said “i have this my friends…ask your rhetorical questions.”
Vick was just keeping it “Real” after week 1 game, its that simple! I believe that Vick felt he should of been the starter going into the season. you can look at it both ways, him saying he gives the team the best chance to win, or him saying if he would of played the entire game the Eagles would have won…thats “Real Talk” and obviously AR agreed with either of the scenarios….
People always have to read deeper into something than what it is.
Wow…McNabb faced his battles with the media, now Vick faces a different battle. Quote/Misquote who cares at this point of the season. Men will line up and play, win or lose. This time of year you man up and play the game, regardless of what anyone said, or has said in the past. If you need that to rally around then so be it, whatever floats your boat. I love Vicks confidence. Most great players talk trash, and guess what, that fact is what makes them great and that they can back it up too. The media is messy, but that is there job…
It’s playoff week and some dudes on here got nothin positive or constructive too say about the fottball team. Suspect fandom as far as im concerned. It’s your right too be a negative voice..spewing statements about future rosters and coaching staff.
If your looking at this as one and done and are convinced that nothin the Birds did during the season points too a big game in front of the faithful…then i think you havent been paying attention this season.
And peaking a month ago is all hust a theory. Getting healthy before playoffs is a legit sign of a fresh squad Sunday.
Look the media wants a big story and for Vick to go off on them……. Guys like Tucker Carlson who says vick should be executed……. Just a few days ago….. Now the media picked a perfect time to ask a bunch of the same questions in different ways to get something out of Vick…… Thats all it is……. Media trying to drink out of the same Well……. Thirsty for a story……. Well media keep on smaking your lips because Vick aint biting the bait you guys cast…….
Being the “Conspiracy Nut” that I am, here is my take on the these recent leaks and stories
about Vick, old quotes, Coach AR unhappiness with him, etc, etc,.
The Eagles FO is looking for a way not to give in and re-sign Vick and have to pay him a $80-$100 long-term Contract .. So someone on the inside starts a little story about Coach AR being unhappy with VIck’s blitz reads, and then lets old Eagle Buddy “Sal Pal” run with the story and reports that Coach AR wouldn”t hesitate to pull Vick if he continues to struggle picking up the blitz and replace him with Kolb… Unfortuantely Kolb did not live up to his part by laying an egg versus the Cowboys which shows everyone how ludicrous that story really was… So now, the Conspirators are working on another angle which is this present story, about some old comments of Vick stating how great he is …
I know this sounds like hogwash to most, but someone in this Eagle Front Office wants Vick to fail.
I will keep everyone up to date what I find out..
You better be careful paulie or I am going to get fansince1960 on you, suggesting eagles fo is cheap
Its not only hogwash but its just plain stupid. The organization wants a Word Championship. Thats there goal right now.
Anyone have any thoughts on the game and scheme? Or is it just what Domo likes for lunch?
Paulman …….Since you have inside sources in Green Bay what are they struggling with? What are some conspiracy’s up there? I hear that if McCarthy loses in the first round then he is a goner. Also some talk about Rodgers being the next Romo if he doesnt win this game………..Pressure is really high on those guys. I just dont see how the Packers can score consistently without a running game and being one dimensional. They are struggling to protect Rodgers at the moment. You have to have more info than the obvious about the Packers right? A 6th seed cannot be flawless. I mean the Eagles are a 3 seed and they have plenty of problems according to you.
Paulman – you sling crap like your mucking a horse stall that hasn’t been cleaned in a year!
As each day passes your posts have less and less value on an Eagles fan site. Not because you don’t drink Eagles koolaid but because you always discuss nothing but negative points, never support the Eagles and simply make up crap all the time. It’ a mystery why you even take time to visit the site of a team you clearly hate. Do you have that much time to simply waste? I’ll probably have to soon add you to the list of posters that I skip reading because it’s a total waste of time. That’s not to say I always bring value, but come on, your nothing but a flame thrower.
The PACKERS are having a really hard-time pass pro’n Godson. That could open things up for an early sack or fumble. We get a big play on d early and it will set the tone. From what i recall the d got too him early last game.Tapp has been making some plays so im gonna call him the first sack monster ofthe day.LETS GO D!!
To Godson,
The only problem being reported from my Cheeseheads sources is the thousands of
old Brett Farve Games Jerseys that they can’t get rid of and are taking up public Wharehouse space..
On the Football side, the Packers struggle to contain the Run if you are paitient and stay with it enough, Packers do not have much quality DE depth and are smallish and have a tendancy to wear down..The Way to attack this Packer Defense is to run on them at the the edges.
The Eagles need big Perfomances from TE’s Clelek,Harbor and FB Schmitt to help secure the edges
The other concern for the Packer D is that when they are in base 3-4, they will not generate a big pass rush unless they send 1 or 2 Blitzers which leaves them vulnerable..
Offensively,
The big concern has to be the play of the Packers O/Line, who has been up and down all season long, Pass Protection at the Edges and their Running game have not been succesful due to having
not very good players at the OT positions.. Eagles can potentially have a big advantage here and need to expose rthis weakness early and often..
Gee Paulman, I am a bit suprised to see your report from GB…because from your previous reports I figured that their only concern would be the traffic on Holmgren Avenue for the SB parade. Very suprised to see you list any other concerns from the cheeseheads, I thought only Birds fans are supposed to be worried this week.
funny because it is true, if he were in all 4 quarters they would have won, Kolb isnt the worst but I do not think he is a good QB
Paulman I knew you had it in you to report negatives on both teams. So after saying what you said. What makes you think that your predicted score of 16 for the Eagles will be true when they lack a consistent pass rush and that will give Eagles speedy reivers to get open all day. If they struggle against the run, what makes you think that Mcoy and Vick will not have 2 or 3 big runs. Sounds more like a 24-20 win for the Eagles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
To Godson
It’s the Eagles Coaches lack of patience with the play calling to stay with the run long enough to wear down the Packers D that I fear and anticipate..The Packer D has been tough in the Redzone and has done a good job of keeping their opponents out of the End-Zone and limiting them to FG’s (3pts). I think the Eagles need to get some kind of cheap/easy TD whether it’s big pass play, a punt/kickoff return a Int or a fumble return…I also think the EAgles will really need their 12th man (the Crowd) to keep the noise level up all game long
To Paulman:
You forgot to explain that a cheap easy TD is (6 points) Look you are correct is some stuff that you say but how is a big pass a cheap play? Unless the defender falls down a big pass play usually happens due to percise route running, speed, acurate pass, blitz pick-up that all sounds like football to me not luck. Please stop with saying a good point Example (A similar case that constitutes a model or precedent)………”It’s the Eagles Coaches lack of patience with the play calling to stay with the run long enough to wear down the Packers D that I fear and anticipate”…..
Then go and say that a big pass play is cheap and easy. Paul do you THINK maybe the Eagles make it look easy???????????
Yes Pman, I too would like to see some “quick” points…but we also need to have our offense do it’s job and sustain some drives to help the defense by keeping them off the field. I would like to see the so-called easy points come early to give us a lead, and then have the coaching staff have a change of philosophy and actually run the ball.
You know what I mean Godson,
A “quick” score like Greenfan just used would have been a better adjective to use..ere t
I have been an Eagle fan for about 40 years and they have never made anything look easy and I don’t expect them to start now….
JROC! What up boy! Yeah man, I feel as if Tom Brady shouldn’t be the MVP. I think Mike Vick should be hands down. And yes, the media has been tricking Vick into saying things to make him look bad. Thats messed up. Just like the refs allow him to take that punishment on the field. Its their way of getting Mike Vick back for the dogfighting they still harp on from 4 years ago!
Tom Brady has days in the pocket to find his recievers. Yes he is good, but whats so much better about Brady than Vick? Vick doesn’t have that kind of time in the pocket like Brady, Rodgers, and Manning. So he has to rush the ball out or use his legs to make plays. And yet, the league and people around the world praise Brady and fault Vick. Its just not fair.
Who got madden 11 or NBA 2K11 on 360…. hit me up scorpdsu
Playoff Rankings From the Atlanta Journal-Constitution:
1. New England: The Patriots lost to the New York Jets in Week 2 and went 13-1 the rest of the season. (Trivia answer: They lost to the Browns.) How can you argue against a team with a plus-28 turnover differential and a quarterback, Tom Brady, who in the last 11 games has 26 touchdowns and zero interceptions? If they don’t win it all, it’s an upset.
2. Pittsburgh: Would it be sacrilegious for me to suggest that coach Mike Tomlin is just as good as Bill Cowher (or better)? He’s 43-21 (.667) in four seasons, has won a Super Bowl and this season kept the Steelers focused through the Ben Roethlisberger saga. The defense is as good as ever: No. 1 in points allowed and against the run.
3. Falcons: They didn’t blow a lot of teams away but this is a league generally devoid of blowouts. They’re not fazed by pressure moments. They have the passing combination of Matt Ryan-to-Roddy White (although Michael Turner needs to be better running). Their defense is significantly improved, particularly in the secondary. Also, they’ve committed an NFC-low 16 turnovers.
4. New Orleans: Don’t pay attention to that last game against Tampa Bay. The Saints got healthier and better as the season went on, and their only other loss in the last two months came at Baltimore. But the team’s strength is also its weakness: Drew Brees was No. 2 in the league in both touchdown passes (33) and interceptions (22). He had 11 interceptions last year.
5. Philadelphia: I know. You fear Michael Vick coming back to Atlanta and taking your lunch money. It could happen. But Vick got beat up down the stretch. He went from zero interceptions in his first seven games to six interceptions (and 16 sacks) in his last five. He’s the playoffs’ biggest “X factor, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Eagles lose to Green Bay.
6. Green Bay: With Aaron Rodgers healthy, the Packers are a better team than the Eagles right now, but because they’re a wild card team they’ll be on the road, away from Lambeau Field. Their strength is Rodgers (two interceptions in his last eight starts) and the league’s No. 5 defense. Their weakness: The running game.
7. Baltimore: Their defense isn’t as great as in past years but it’s still pretty good and quarterback Joe Flacco has shown he can win playoff games. Throwing out the early season loss to Cincinnati, Baltimore’s only other defeats came at New England in overtime, at Atlanta (26-21) and to Pittsburgh (13-10).
8. Chicago: I realize the Bears got hot down the stretch and had impressive wins over the Eagles and Jets. But I still look at the team and see Jay Cutler. He threw six interceptions in the last four games. He also has been sacked 52 times, more than any quarterback in the league.
9. N.Y. Jets: The best thing about the Jets making the playoffs is we’ll get to see Rex Ryan spontaneously combust on the sideline when they lose. They won at Pittsburgh late in the season, which was impressive, but quarterback Mark Sanchez was shaky down the stretch: two touchdowns, six interceptions, 10 sacks in his last five starts.
10. Indianapolis: Without Peyton Manning, this is a last place team in the AFC South. With him, they’re always a threat. But not much of one. The Colts have no running game.
11. Kansas City: Coach Todd Haley must be the most miserable person on earth for even Charlie Weis to want to leave for Florida. The Chiefs are building a nice team but there’s too much going on off the field to expect a playoff run.
12. Seattle: Roger Goodell has no problem fining players for hits that he deems dangerous to the health of a quarterback. Shouldn’t he get fined for subjecting us to a 7-9 team making the playoffs?
I’m about to relocate to the ATL and have been doing some research on the city. I found these playoff rankings interesting. I can’t disagree with much of anything.
Look at all Mike Vick has done this season BY HIMSELF!!!!! Not to mention, after just one year from being out of prison! AND he was locked up for 2 years! AND he got us to the playoffs! If that is not an MVP, I dont know what is!

Fellas
If Vick played for the Pats and Brady played for the Eagles, what would happen?
Why care so much about an MVP award? What does that do for the team? I said it before, the only MVP award I care about is an Eagle winning the SuperBowl MVP….anything else doesn’t do sh** for me.
Fran Tarkington…Earl Campbell (3 times)…Dan Fout….Dan Marino….what do they have in common? They all won NFL MVP awards but NEVER won a SuperBowl. Great players, and they provided great memories for their fans, but no championships.
I already have plenty of memories…I want a championship. I could care less who wins an MVP award…I want a championship for the Birds.
Drummer,
That’s a very interesting hypothetical question:
Brady would have far better receivers/running back here to work with and slice up defenses on way to Eagle’s first SB. Patriots’s coach Billy B would lose his mind and temper with a player like Vick, but if he were that great a coach he should be able to exploit Vick’s sheer physical talent, but doubt they’d win SB without an upgrade in receiver corps.
How ’bout the question of swapping coaches?
Iggles
I think Reid’s ridiculous play-calling would land Brady in the hospital.
Paulman’s Rankings of Playoff teams from best chance to least chance to win Super Bowl
#1) Patriots (Best Qb, Best Coach in the NFL, they don’t beat themselves)
#2) Steelers (Best overall Defense with Palomolu back, just enough offense w/big Ben)
#3) Falcons (Have homefield advantage, combo of running and passing, Defense has improved)
#4) Saints (Reining Super Bowl Champs and will still be a tough out with Brees- no running game)
#5) Ravens (Agreesive Defense, create lots of turnovers, can pound the rock adnd Flacco is efficient)
#6) Bears (Best Special Teams in the NFL, have solid Defense, Cutler and Running game is hot/Cold)
#7) Packers (Best overall QB in the NFC, best WR corps in in NFL, Matthews/Woodson on Defense
#8) Colts (Still have Peyton Manning, have heathy J Addai, just not enough D and WR due to injuries)
#9) Eagles (QB M VIck is the most dynamic player in the NFl, has he peaked and taken too many shots to go on a 4 game run, Pass Defense is the worst of any teams that made the playoffs)
#10) Jets (Overrated, have not run the ball well, little pressure from D/L and poor Safety play)
#11) Chiefs (Inexperienced but a well coached team with lots of young talent for future years success)
#12) Seattle (don’t belong in the playoffs period)
Swapping coaches is a good one, too. I think Belichek would protect Vick with a more balanced attack.
Vick went from throwing 0 picks in 7 games to 6 picks and 16 sacks in the last five. I don’t think those first 7 games were a fluke or mirage. I believe Reid is largely responsible for the difference.
Vegas disagrees with you Pman-
Team Odds
Patriots (2/1)
Falcons (11/2)
Steelers (11/2)
Saints (10/1)
Eagles (11/1)
Ravens (12/1)
Bears (12/1)
Packers (12/1)
Colts (14/1)
Jets (20/1)
Chiefs (30/1)
Seahawks (75/1
Vick’s got 100 rushing attempts, with a 6.2 yard average. Even those who despise Vick admit that he is a changed QB, staying in the pocket to complete passes and running only when he had to.
The problem is that he had to increasingly more often.
By comparison, Brady’s run 30 times for 31 yards.
As a team, the Patriots average 123 rushing yards (9th in the league) on 454 attempts.
As a team, the Eagles average 145 yards (5th in the league) on 427 attempts.
If you remove Vick’s 100 attempts and 676 yards, the Eagles plummet to 20th, averaging 103 yards on only 327 attempts.
Which means the Patriots (as a team) have run the ball 127 more times than the Eagles.
We all agree that Brady is one of the best, if the not best, QB in the league. So, why does Belichick run the ball so much more? Why not just let Brady throw it 200 more times?
I’ll tell you why . . . because he’d get killed. That’s why.
With a more balanced attack, Brady enjoys more time to throw the ball.
Likewise, with a less balanced attack, teams have blitzed more often, pinned their ears back and beat Vick up to the point that he’s only a shell of himself. After not having played for a week, he’s only 75% ready.
Even with such a disparity in this ratio, Brady has been nicked up, had to wear a boot and missed time.
Against Minnesota, who was coming with an all-out blitz (because they had nothing to lose), we were often in an empty backfield set. Blitzers were coming through untouched. Why? I don’t think there’s any way that Belichik would have allowed that to happen.
Keep in mind that Vick didn’t play a full season. Those numbers would be even more different if he had.
Excellent points Drummer, and this is exactly the reason why the Eagles won’t get far..
Take out Vicks Rushing Yards and they ranked 20th/21st in the NFL in running,
I pointed this out 2 weeks ago that the EAgles Rushing yards were not as good as the appeare
and that the Eagles still struggle getting the tough yards in the RedZone and 3rd/4th short-yardage plays
and on top of this, Vick is taking a pounfind and wont last getting hit another 6-8-10 times a game
The man has had a phenomenal year but he is not Superman and this is how te game-plan appears to be for him to execute..
Did anyone realize Rodgers is 2nd in rushing yards by QBs to Vick? Gotta keep him in the pocket too. Obviously, he’s not Vick but he will pick up yards and first downs when necessary.
Drummer….interesting question, except that Belicheck would never ever trade or sign Vick (even if he didn’t have Brady).
Take a look at who he chooses for his QBs
Brady. 4 year college graduate. 3.33 GPA graduated with honours. Scored 33 on Wonderlic
Cassel. 4 year communication major at USC. Graduated with 3.37 GPA and received some academic award for upperclassman with highest GPA
Hoyer. Graduate from M. State with degree in interdeispiplinary studies
John Crompton…all academic communication studies major..3.5GPA
Dude only wants 4/5 year Uni graduates with high academic credentials as his QBs. 2 year dropout sociology majors who score feeble 20s on the wonderlic wouldn’t cut it for him.
All those degrees won’t out run a linebacker.
Vinnie
You are so full of hate that it’s hilarious. Really, it is.
If what you say is true does that mean that only only scholars win superbowls?
