Danny Thinks McNabb Should Sit

From Danny, Hey G, I just want to offer my opinion on the qb situation. First with McNabb, in years past I havent been the type of person whose been on his case and screaming for the backup qb after a loss…but this year is different.

McNabb is completely different both as a quarterback, and a person this year. In my opinion, the biggest reason for McNabb's past success was his mobility. His ability to extend the play and evade pressure was his greatest asset. With the mobility gone, suddenly weve seen a guy who has been up and down most of the year, making too many costly errors. His throws are erratic. Remember the bears game, I do believe he missed Matt Schobel wide open atlest twice before he finally hit him for a score. Those missed throws cost us 8 points since we had to settle for threes. Im just sick and tired of seeing balls sail over reciever's heads or fall short at their feet.

Also I cant take anymore of Donovan setting the tone for games early with a sack or a fumble.

On the other hand you have AJ. Yes, AJ is nowhere near the athletic talent McNabb is/was and yes it was becuase of Feeley's mistakes that cost us the game in New England, but, AJ did so many things in that game and the Miami game that you will never see McNabb do.

First, Feeley is decesive and gets rid of the ball quick, and has confidence that his receiver will be able to make a play on the ball. for Mcnabb, the normal maddening formula seems to be dont throw it unless hes open by 10 yards.

Feeley took full blame for the loss…which the other teammates clearly respected. Youve seen the quotes from players like Sheldon Brown, who with their comments hint Donovan is a poor leader.

Even last year, remember after the Saints game when Westbrook was asked about Garcia, and Westbrook said "He is the true defenition of a leader"

McNabb lost the town with his big mouth. I dont want to hear excuses. I dont want to hear that it wasnt all your fault. I, and the city, want a guy who will play his heart out for us. Garcia was that guy last year…as long as I live I will never forget beating Dallas on Christmas Day and Garcia's quote after the game "Merry Christmas Philadelphia"

McNabb is not that leader…and hes not the quaterback he once was. If AJ has another excellent game with over 300 yards and 3 tds against seattle, a team who has only let up 6 pass tds this year…How could you possibly justify going back to McNabb?

Danny,

I don't doubt that you're a sincere fan and fair guy, but nobody could have been here and listened to the four or five straight years of 24 hours a day, seven days a week straight battering of McNabb and not be affected.  That's why I want to see Donovan be freed of this place.  Your pointing out of the comments made by McNabb's teammates, simply show that the players listen to the radio and read the papers.  I have never seen this type of continuous attack on one player.  The city was poisoned for other guys the same way.  When they left we didn't even know what we were losing.  Curt Schilling criticized some of the guys in the media and was hammered for it.  He left Negadelphia and went on to win three World Series titles.  Terry Francona was portrayed as if he were an idiot by our local media but he's already won two World Series Championships.  Who really are the idiots.

I'm stopped by Eagles fans all the time and immediately the only thing they want to do is start criticizing McNabb.  When he's gone and there are still problems with the team, somebody else is going to picked to be the target.  The target is always a superstar because that equals money for the media.  You said in your note that you don't think you want to see McNabb start the game with a sack or fumble, what about starting the game with an interception for a touchdown and spotting the other team 7 points like A.J. did.  You also say A.J. had an excellent game even though he threw three interceptions, one for a touchdown, fumbled without any pressure on him and fell dropping to pass with no pressure on him.  You may not realize it but if you pay attention to the local media, you would think McNabb should have never been drafted.
