Donovan McNabb did what I had advised in one of my articles last week. He didn't forget his legs.
His legs seperate him from other quarterbacks. Most of the league's QB's can only beat you with their arms. McNabb can beat you with his legs without putting himself in jeopardy.
He should take off and run early in each game. It will give the opposing defense something else to concern themselves with.
McNabb wasn't especially sharp starting out the game yesterday, but did get his act together as the game continued.
McNabb threw high on consecutive slant routes to his left on third downs in the first quater. These were what we used to call "hospital balls," which means if the receiver goes after them he could wind up in the hospital.
Kevin Curtis waved at the one which was over his head, but DeSean "The Kid" Jackson went up for the one McNabb threw over his head and almost got killed.
I loved the way he played yesterday because he didn't forget his legs and Andy Reid didn't forget them either. McNabb ran a quarterback draw for a touchdown.
Reid needs to have him take off on a quarterback scramble early in each game.
After the game McNabb sounded like he had rediscovered his scrambling ability.
"I do have a greater appreciation for the ability that I have," McNabb said on a day when he ran for a 3-yard score and became just the eighth quarterback in NFL history with more than 3,000 career-rushing yards. "Not that I neglected it in any way. I just think that over the years you kind of get comfortable knowing where [receivers] are going to be and you try to get the ball out of your hands to them. But there are those situations where I have pressure in my face, and I'm not able to see downfield as well as I wanted to. I tried to buy time, but sometimes you just have to take off."
