Charlie Manuel has informed the Philadelphia sports media, which is with him down in Clearwater, Florida that he won’t talk about his contract after the season starts. Meaning his deadline for getting it done will be on opening day, after that it will coach it out and hopefully sign another deal at the season.
Manuel has made it clear that he doesn’t want the negotiation to become a distraction.
Pitching coach Rich Dubee told reporters that Cole Hamels is in such good shape that he could pitch today. That says something to me.
I hear loud and clear that Cole Hamels is coming to camp with something to prove. He knows he’s going to be compared with the great pitching teammates he has and obviously he plans on being at his best from day one.
He’s heard everybody raving about the workout regimen of Roy Halladay. He knows that Hallady, Cliff Lee and Roy Oswalt have been amongst the best pitchers in baseball for a while now.
I think the quality veteran pitchers will pick up Hamels game.
This is great to hear. What’s the chances that all the pitchers will adopt Halladay’s approach and be ready to storm the beaches and take no prisoners on opening day?
