Will DMac Demand An Extension?

The old quarterback has another outstanding game and his replacement comes in long enough to have an interception returned for a TD.

Let me correct myself.  Not an interception but another interception returned for a touchdown.

This has to be a record where a quarterback who has only attempted 34 passes has had two of them returned for touchdowns.  I don't think these plays really tell us what kind of quarterback Kevin Kolb is going to be but they have to scare head coach Andy Reid and team president Joe Banner.

How could you feel secure about turning over the franchise to a young quarterback who so far has been very disappointing?

How could he go to corporations who are already downsizing and ask them for hundred of thousands of dollars with the unproven young Kolb as the quarterback?  I would imagine the Eagles will feel some of the down economy next year regardless of whoever is at quarterback.

But Banner has to be asking himself whether he could compete for the corporate dollars against the defending World Series Champion Philadelphia Phillies with an unproven and no-name quarterback.  Would the big companies be willing to put out big bucks with Kolb at the helm?

That might not be part of your thinking but it's got to something that goes through Joe Banner's mind.

The Eagles have Donovan McNabb under contract for a couple more years.  They will likely refuse to give him an extension but will McNabb force their hand by making noise publicly and demanding an extension?

This will be the key decision of the Eagles off season.  For the rest of the season, every game the Eagles win and every time McNabb goes on the field and plays well gives him more leverage in the negotiations.

What will Reid say behind closed doors about resigning McNabb or trading him?

This will be the number one Eagles story in Philadelphia this off season and could be the number one story in the NFL this off season depending on what happens the rest of the season.
